I have been getting pissed about this no first posting because first posting has been around forever! Plus that takes the whole reason of the news streamer away! Did you ever like first posting? Or always hated it? Or is it a tradition that just is..?

it pisses me off, everytime, "first post" "second post". who gives a shit!

cancer has been around forever too, i'd like to see them both go

first posting started out as an unfunny joke, and then became the ultimate lamer detector

the people who first post are the same ones who light their farts and watch "the man show" -- you know, the lowest form of non-protozoan life

let it die

that if you dont have something productive, on topic, or funny to say you should just think for a minute longer and come up with something. 1st posting may or may not be a tradition.. I dont know except to say that if it is then its a tradition for a small percentage of zeropaid memebers. Personally I think its traditions like that one that keep many people away from zeropaid, people who could add much to this little community instead of proclaiming their ability to constantly refresh their browser for hours on end.

Its not tradition its something that a few lame people started last year and has been popular with the "kids" ever since... Trying to show off their intelligence by showing they can count to 1, 2 and maybe 3...

Ever since the zeropaid news streamer came out we don't have to keep refreshing our browsers! :D:black

the news streamer is to stay current on the news and stay informed and on topic, not to become the ultimate 1st post tool to bring us to lower levels of idiocy

Doesn't bother me much but I don't like it. Wheels on mice were invented for stuff like this.

These people probably write it on the daily crossword in the newspaper after getting up at 5:30 AM.

They couldn't actually DO the crossword, I don't think.

:devil Gotta agree with Gorphon. We should try to keep the topics on topic. All the 1st post crap breaks up the threads which is what I want to read.

While I find it distracting and detracting at times and pretty damn stupid at other times I really could care less. It does, however, have a negative effect on the site as a whole. This is evidenced by visiting the "other" sites and listening to some of the negative feedback. We are looked at as "juvenile" and alot of ZP people have migrated to those sites because of the posts that have been made on this site. I don't know if censoring the posts is the answer. Tradition or not it's not helping the site as a whole. I like to have fun like the next guy but I try to temper my comments and not make rude racist comments or personally attack someone for their opinion. I generally try to add to the experience.

Just my 2 cents

I don't think there is anyway to stop this, accept by getting rid of the post a comment altogether.
Why doesn't the Mod who Posts the Story make the 1st Post? But then they will surely fight for the 2nd....lol :shy

I think getting rid of the news comments wouldnt be such a bad idea.. Instead of having comments just push people towards the forums. The news stories/program releases are some of the first things that people who have never visited this see and the immature and ignorant actions by some indivdual gives this site a bad impression..

Another idea that just came to me earlyer today is maybe tally up a count of how many people click to download a program from this site.. That could also be used in someway to find out what program is popular too..

I see no problem with "First Post". I think a "First Post" along WITH something on topic is a winning combination. How about "First Posts" combined with something on topic. And if its just a post that says "First Post", then delete that post. Otherwise leave it alone. Now everybody is happy because every "First Post" has something to do with the topic.

I mod news stories now so we don't have to hear any of that First Post garbage. I think it's just Jorge and I for now until he's able to get it in a way that doesn't mess up all of ZP if somethin goes wrong. First Posting is crap and it was started a year ago. I remeber the old ZP and all you ZP freshmen should know that first postin is for fags and that guy taht started this post and loves first postin probably also likes takin it in the ass. Sorry, just had to say that.

Gee matt, how about getting rid of SPAM comments from "blazedout" before picking on us "First Posters". Oh and I just love your comment displayed above, your post is so intelligent especially this one - "first postin is for fags and that guy taht started this post and loves first postin probably also likes takin it in the ass."

Seems as though you've shown your true colors. And to think I respected you for all the interviews you posted here on ZP. It's pieces of crap like you that make me not want to visit ZP. But i'm sure you don't care anyway.

Look.
As long as you keep the newsboards open, someone is going to have to be the first to post on them. It's simple logic. If someone wants to use that "first post" to yell out "first post", that should be their prerogative. It's when we start doing "second post" or keep on talkin about first posts, or (even worse) start talking about iguanas and stupid shit like that, that the newsboards turn into annoying sacks of shit.

Anyway, the "30 characters or more" law that Jorge instituted should be all the defense against stupid posts that we need. There's no need for moderating the posts anymore. In fact, I really don't like the idea of newsmods in general. The idea of censorship on a site like ZP leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I understand that limits have to be placed (so no idiots like blazedout can post), but the idea of having someone read every post and decide what's worthy is not cool.

TipYourBartender is right. The idea of censorship on Zp is rediculous. Although I believe SPAM comments made by people like "Blazedout" need to be deleted. Other than that, the 30 character limit is all the defense you need.

"first postin is for fags and that guy taht started this post and loves first postin probably also likes takin it in the ass."

Matt, where the hell did that come from? What has evilmegaman done? He wasn't even one of the guys doing it all the time.

BTW, I didn't like the first posting crap either, but I did find Grabowski funny. He tended to try and spice it up better than just saying "first post." eg.

Personally, first posts don't really bother me. They may be dumb, but they aren't offensive or anything.

As far as what outsiders think: That should be irrelevant.

im gonna have to go with foreverboard. why do u guys care so much. its not like its doin anything wrong. just some kids trying to have some fun. i know that if i had the chance, i would say "1st post woohoo" but i dont purposefully refresh and refresh just for the sake of gettin one. it really shouldnt bother u guys all that much. i mean get over it, its just someone sayin first post, not the end of the world
