has anyone signed up for google adsense to display ads on their site? I wanted to, and I used to have an account there, but when I signed up again, they needed an SSN, which I'm not allowed to know. Has anyone who signed up before the time when they started asking for SSN (last nov.), and do they need one then? Because if not I can try and find out my old login/password there. Otherwise I'll just do some other affiliate thing.

Never wanted/needed advertising for my site, with the exception of the John Kerry banner, which I dont get paid for. What do you mean your not allowed to know your SSN? Do you live in another country or something?

my parents wont let me know till im 18 because they're afraid I'll give it out.
I signed up with something called clicksor for ads that doesnt need your SSN because they take out taxes from it, and take a commission too, so it's less $$$ but who cares. I hate ads, but I put it at the bottom of my blog in case some benevolent soul decides to click them.
I dont need ads for my site but right now my income is from mowing the lawn and saturdays at a cafe that ive secured a job at (opening in november i think), but I make about $30/mo with the lawn and the page is only $10 but you know its nice to get a break on the bill so you can keep a little more of what you make.

I'm sure Jorge would know some.. after all, he runs this place :)
I dont blame your parents, I have my SSN but wouldnt give it out to anyone online, with the exception of my Circuit City and BestBuy applications. I get $30/week for allowance.. but an extra $10 would be nice.. may consider that myself.

my parents wont let me know it until im 18... its no big deal, ive never needed it. im just paid under the table.
I assume you mean give google shit... it doesnt matter to me, googles not really going to send me spam or anything, and they need the SSN for tax purposes. I think they should just pay a tax on the money and then give you the remainder but i believe now its based on incomes or something so they cant do that... I could pretend im foreign and dont have one but then if i get caught its a lot of trouble for me.

dude, you can get your social security number from the social security office, just hand em your driver license. Your SSN is like your identity, why would your rents keep it from you?

That sucks, I guess. I have my SSN memorized since 16 and good thing because I've needed it a few times. And like when I call the bank they have you verify the last four digits. etc. and for applications when applying for jobs. Then when you finally get your drivers liscense, you'll need to know it.

Another thing, these ad money maker things don't really work. I use to use this one where you would get money for every visitor that clicked an ad, and by the time I closed my site, I had over 1 million hits and I never received enough money to withdrawal from my advertisement account. I will never show ads again on my sites, their annoying and don't work for me.
