Ok.. I have been downloading files, but it seems like it is a very hit or miss thing.

How can I be sure that the files are there to be downloaded? I need to know how to identify active online users with files that are available.. I am a bit confused over the PING feature as well.

Any help is appreciated. I used Napster, Audiogalaxy, Kazalite, but while I like WinMx, I find it very confusing..

Any help is appreciated.

run a broad search-some popular groups will give you a ton of hits but take the time to start there-check the list
find some targets- the best to d/l are the ones marked with a + sign that means that there are several copies-at the end of the song line there will be a code (hopefully in green) that says something like 3+o that means that there might be 3 locations of files to swarm to-if that is the file you want double click and see if you get a d/l started-most times you will get at least two d/ling the song to you-this is the fastest way and the best feature of this program.
Ok say you get that file but there are several more by that same band you want-you can either add the song title to the artist and search again or rerun your search-remember that everything changes every couple of minutes so going off a 30 minute old search is hit and miss at best-find the next availible song and see if it shows up in green or if you are going to be on for a while you might get in the cue line(of death) for a song.
green/green or find someone that does not have like 50 in cue. Some songs are hard to get on winmx. Every night is different. Without the ability to have an ongoing hotlist it is hard to track a file that you really want.
Enter chat/hotlist send a message to a good prospect and see what their availibility is. But a bunch of folks either do not answer or have this feature turned off. This linking is the true downfall of this program and its' users. Although I like some aspects of winmx and most of the files i want are there I find the communty to be pretty lame.
See ya on the magnet group.
