I always loved the band. i remember buying operation mind crime, and of course Empire. I have several.. to bad the MTv saga ended long ago.

Then it seems the answer is simple.

HEAR THEM!!

Start with Operation:Mindcrime

I actually started with Rage for Order, maybe The Warning. Aside from the outrageous clothes and hair, these albums rocked hard. Only until after Promised Land did they start sliding downhill. I haven't heard much since Q2K.
