Look people,
please! don't fanboy it! please! I don't want an es5 like reputation for the program.
It is a really good program though, and the dev people listen to people's ideas, there's a forum section for posting ideas.
Edit: heh

I like it but I think you should be able to have a Video Channel so people can stream Videos.

That would rule, but I'm sure not everyone would stick to streaming there own stuff, no comment. I'd only stream stuff the creators wanted streamed, if that doesn't give you a hint, you need to be a better sp fan

Hey stec!HEY back at ya!!!
:upside
The problem with streaming video is some people will abuse this privilage and stream porn. This is a free non age restricted cummunity and that would create many problems. I too would like to be able to stream video because I would do my own home made comedy and stunt skits that I'm sure people would like to see but like I said there is too much room for abuse. Not to mention copyrighted movies and tv shows.
It was hard enough to get the RIAA to ok Mercora legally can you imagine the trouble to get the legal ok from the MPAA to let them stream video??? Maybe one day it might happen but not any time soon. As good as Mercora currently is it still needs a lot of work to fix the issues it already has on it's plate.

All I have to say to this is don't talk about stuff you know nothing about.Actually Homeya is correct. I speak with the owners of Mercora on a regular basis & know that he is not an administrator just wants to be one. Please if your truely love the Mercora program and it's community don't post false information like this as it tarnishes Mercora's image and you can be giving answer's to people's questions that you don't have the authority to answer or the actuall know how and could be doing more damage than good. You have already been told on the official Mercora forum so please don't do it here too or I will inform Mike, Atri & Sampath and at the moment I haven't and will hope that you correct your post. I'm not trying to be an ass here or to embarras you, you have done that yourself just pointing out that you can not falsly identify yourself and get away with it.

IF this program is legal how can your network detect that the mp3 streams that are being streamed in compliance within the boundaries of the law with respect to the number of users listening and playing said files?
How do you obtain the stats for the music that is broadcasted and also I would like to know does your company actually pay for the streams of the music?

First I am not an investor or employee with Mercora, I'm just a very loyal user that helps out as much as I can.
Now to answer your questions.....
Mercora fully complies with the "NON-INTERACTIVE BROADCASTING RULES" set out by the RIAA.
That means...
1) You can only broadcast 4 songs from an artist in a 3 hour period
2) You can only broadcast 3 songs from the same album in a 3 hour period
3) you can only brodcast 2 songs from the same album consecutively in a 3 hour period
Mercora randomly plays songs from either your entire library that you set up or from a given playlist that you set up. Mercora keeps track of what you have played and will not play that song again until at least 3 hours have past. All songs played by everyone on the mercora network are logged and kept track so proper royalties can be paid. All bandwidth to stream & listen is solely on the mercora users end, you supply it. You can not share music, only listen & broadcast. And only properly tagged songs will play.
At the moment only the investors of Mercora are footing the rather large bill for the royalties. The program will most certainly go pay for use with no adds and bonus features. There will most certainly be a free version with small static adds and less features for everyone else but that will still be further down the road as it's still in beta testing with many new features yet to be tested.
Other ideas to keep it free are record labels paying to stream music on their own channels to entice people to buy their music through direct links as well as a music swapping service where mercora will get a percentage of the sale but these are all just rumoured.
I hope I have answered your questions!
