View Full Version : Need BBS admins
Jorge

We need some admins to watch over our cool new boards, anyone intersted? Exp. members need only apply, we don't want to be babysitting our admins.
Let me know what board you would like to admin. Or let us know if we should add a board to the BBS.
thanks,
jorge

jorge Hmmmm....maybe an OpenNap board? I hate OpenNap servers, but there still seems to be quite a few people using them.
Just a thought.

How many clients besides WinMX and Filenavigator are using openNap?
Morgwen
P.S.:
I donīt like openNap either!

An OS board? For tweaks, performance tips etc. related to problems that people may experience within various P2P apps?

Yes and a security board... help with firewalls and viruses etc.
and a file format board, perhaps a general Gnutella section?

I could help out moderating any forum really but i would perfer General P2P and/or the Gnutella forums.
You need to add a few non-p2p forums. Like a General Discussion forum for anything p2p related or not.

Agreed.
An "Off Topic" forum for general chit-chat. Communities like this will always generate off topic chatter. I'd be willing to Mod an Off Topic forum or any of the News forums.
I'm opinionated, but I am potty trained. :black

Also...you'll need a forum for your Mods & Admins to hang out in. A place where only Mods & Admins can discuss policies, banning people or other stuff related to sex, er, I mean, related to this forum.

Sephiroth!
I think you would be only a good mod for the bearshare forum... but I think Jorge should choose a REAL neutral person especially for this forum - for the general forums you tell to much bearshare hype!

Hmmm...I think Sephiroth would be an excellent Bearshare Mod here. I think that being a Mod means you can help people as well as keep the general atmosphere under control. Sephiroth may have close connections to Bearshare, butt hay, that may mean that the Bearshare fourm will stay up-to-date with news, release, tricks & info.
Sephiroth seems to have a massive amount of knowledge about Gnutella and Bearshare, and that's what forums need: people with knowledge willing to help those that need help.
I don't know Sephiroth...just my observations and thoughts.

Yes yo are right about Sephiroth would be a good bearshare mod! But after the gf bearshare forum is now moderated by Vinnie and his friends I think its better to take someone who is really neutral, otherwise Vinnie is controlling ALL importants boards and this is not good, and Sephiroth has a very strange view about insultings...
Just my two cents!

Hmmm...maybe you're right...I guess I don't know all the angst and strife that dwells in the heart of the Gnutella community, so it may be best for me to butt out.

Lol Morgwen, you dont pass up on a chance to to say anything bad about Sephiroth do you, I have followed the boards where you 2 argue for a while now and its getting old, just enjoy gnutella and lets have fun.

Your right but i dont start it. I could have posted things about morgwen but i didnt. All im going to say is look at his last posts, gnutellaforums.com and ask yourself do you really want that here? I think that this forums can kick the crap out of the others one and will do anything i can to make it happen.
All i can really say is that Ive been a visitor of this site for a long time before bearshare came out even and that i do anything to hel pthis site really more than any P2P program because i like zp.com that much.. No one tells me what to do i take great offence to morgwen calling me someone's puppet.
Unlike what people like morgwen. I dont have "inside" connections to bearshare. I was a alphatester for Defender and being a VIP isnt as great as some people think mainly just pre-tests before it goes public testing.
But what i do have is alot of information on gnutella which i would be glad to share with others.

Sephiroth!
I am really tired... every time your accusations against me!
What is your problem? You say your opinion I say mine!
We disagree but I donīt wine that somebody has attacked me with every second word! If you would discuss your points with the people there would be no problem!
Link the thread, show the people how bad I am!

Regardless of all this angst & history of personal disagreements, Sephiroth has a large amount of positive Gnutella knowledge and if Sephiroth is willing to step up and help people better understand Gnutella, then I say "more power to ya". Wish I knew as much about Gnutella as he does.
Heck, I'd love it if Adam Fisk would post here about Limewire. I learned a ton from him in that Limewire thread under the interview that Matt posted. I thought Adam was an arrogant prick that cared more about money than community, but I was really wrong. Very cool guy with great ideas about P2P technology. I don't care if Adam's posts come across as advertising for Limewire...I just want to discuss P2P on philosophical terms and developers have the most knowledge & dreams in this area.
Again
all just my opinion. I dont know any of these people personally.

I think he will not have the time, he posts a lot on gnutellaforums! This is one point why I love this side the developers from all important clients visit this side! You can change a lot by discussing with the developers in private and on the borads!!! :wings

There is disagreement between me and him but I think we would be a good team he knows things that I donīt know and I know what he donīt know! Only an idea...

I think it would help to have a General Discussion forum completely seperate from "General P2P", perhaps even an entire catergory dedicated to off-topic forums. It would also be a good idea to have a Garbage Can/Trash Bin/Compost forum for threads that get out of hand and need to be locked. And a graphics forum would be cool for those who like to tinker with Flash/Photoshop; it could be used for people to request and comment on sigs and avatars too.
And If you still need mods I'd gladly volunteer my services for whatever forum(s) you want.
By the way: I can see from the Forum Leader's page that you have yourself and Dubstylee set as Mod's on all three Catergories. You dont really need to do that since Admin's automatically have Mod privs on all forums. Same goes for Supermods.

I am interested in Administering a BBS. I would Prefer the Kazaa Lite.
What kind of experience do you expect? I am a professional computer technician. I own my own business and have been connecting to other computers since 1980.:mellow

I think the only thing that's become apparent in this thread is the desperate need for a flame forum. You could call it "Outside" so that all parties in various altercations could be told publicly whre to take them.

Hey jorge, I am interested in being the study hall teacher in the music and mp3's section. This section has just been a mess for a long time. I think that we can add to the knowledge base of getting some music lists out there. You know "If you like ___ then you might like____". Information about cleaning and deleting horribly recorded mp3's. Getting ignored partial downloads off your comp and out of file sharing programs. Editing, cover art, band research, recording lp's and cassettes into mp3's and a lot more stuff. I'm your man. contact me on the private message board or e mail me.

So Jorge what are the "requirements" that apply to becoming an admin?
I have tons of experience in hardware and Windows software, but there
are probably a few people out there with more than me. :]

Everyone notice the date on this thread. 2002. This thread is old.
Omyn, this is not recent so don't count on being an admin. :-)
I think this is dumb to bring up old threads. Their pointless to bring them up unless something actually has be to said.
