Why do people lie about their connection? Do they think it's because they won't get caught...think again.

Well, actually, some people might be that stupid. Maybe they've seen themselves upload at 28 KBps and then when they get the selection they think "Thats mine!" and not know.. but I think some people are that stupid to think they wont get caught, yes.

The sad part is, they probably aren't lying - they're just too stupid to know what type of connection they have. Come on - I would lay money on it that we all know people who, when you ask if that have dialup, they give you a blank stare and say "Yeah, I do - it connects through the cable line - does that mean I have good megahertz?"

Actually there's an option that in winMX that is defaulted so that it says their connection is slow if they have a long queue...

Not to mention in dc++ it's the default, and newbies don't seem to change it.

And some people just dont bother or are too lazy.

Ya, I'm betting on the stupid idea, though I'm sure some people think "WOW! now I don't have to share as much!" ...dumbasses

Lazy and dont bother thats me. Actually I usually put my true speed but sometimes forget. I usually install all my programs when I do a fresh windows install so I forget to change some settings. But hey its not that big a deal I just download from many differn't palces and keep the fastest.

No matter what you put for your connection, your upload speed generally won't lie (unless you are using something to limit your bandwidth, of course).

THATS WHY winmx will always SUCK!!! You make a file sharing program, for people to share copy protected work illegally, of course their going to lie. THey shouldnt ask people what connection they have, it free up alot more queues and people would be forced to share more .. I guess they are on their to obtain, and dont want to upload and waste bandwidth.

actually, Who gives a flying f**k. Doesnt really matter. I got better things to worry about. Unless they throttle their bandwidth, who cares what they advertise.
Yes I am joking around with the way I put it, so please no one get mad and start flaming me.
I am just having fun. :bling

How is not asking peoples connection type going to free up ques? Damn! problem solved! you should Email Frontcode about this!
Heres a clue for you shawners, if you don't like how winmx is, don't worry about it and don't use it. Stick with what you like. I get a few gigs a day off winmx so it can't suck that bad. But I know theres no need to try and convince you, you obviously find your wares elsewhere and good for you. For those who want to try something different, give it a shot. Don't listen to the shawners of the world who's only cry is IT SUCKS. P2P programs are ripe with the SOS. Winmx offers a different experience and a sense of community for those who wish to seek out others of the same interests.
Now I'm waiting on "it still sucks" standard reply. yawn

I got a message from my isp for a spiderman cartoon they said was a moive. But even this wasnt an issue til I used the opennap servers.
Is opennap that much more open to this riaa bastards?
I was lucky cause it was just a cartoon but my question is how is it that I used winmx for months and on the same day I use the opennap servers "BAM"...
Whats your'alls opinion.
Thanks everyone, I absolutely dont know everything so any response is appreciated.

I really would not think the MPAA would be trolling open nap. I use private open nap servers, well really just one, and have not had a problem yet. What ISP do you use?
