After three years in the scene, Bitterside can be considered as one of Malta's top bands. The band released 5 singles, a video and they just released their eagerly awaited debut album called SOMEHOW DIFFERENT.
Bitterside is made up of Daniel Genuis (vocals and guitars), J.J. Galea (guitars and keyboards), Alan Fava (bass guitar) and Kenneth Vella (drums and percussions).
It all started when Daniel told Kenneth and JJ that he had some songs he wanted to try out. The guys started to practice but they lacked a bass player. Alan joined in and completed the line-up. After loads of rehearsals and some gigs, recording started at Temple Studios.
The first session was in October 2001. 'If you' and 'Something we call life' were produced. Both songs enjoyed a lot of airplay and even reached the local charts. The guys also shot a video, on a very cold day in February 2002, for 'If You'.
In July 2002, 'Fire in my pockets', ''97', 'Somehow Alive' & 'Inside out' were recorded. 'Fire in my pockets' was a big hit for the band. The song turned out to be one of the most requested songs of the year 2002. Due to a lot of requests the guys had to release an E.P. Few copies were made though, because the guys had already started to make plans on an album. ''97' and 'Inside out', where also released as singles. The band gigged around in loads of places and events and where also nominated for 'Best Live Act' and 'Best Video' in the Malta Music Awards 2003. To complete the album, the guys had two other recording sessions (Apr 2003 and Feb 2004) where a total of 9 songs were produced.
Finally SOMEHOW DIFFERENT is ready and is now for sale. Somehow Different is a 15-track album (12 listed and 3 bonus) with different moods. Fear (The Fast Song), Regrets, Drop of Wine, Changes in the way and obviously the hit single Fire in My pockets are some of the songs found in the album. The current single that is being heard on the local radio stations is "In Me" that is supported by an excellent remix by DJ Andie and a music video from D-Max Productions. Bitterside will perform a lot of gigs this summer to compliment the release of this album.
This album is also available for sale from http://merchant.di-ve.com/diveseller/page133.html and you can also view the music video on-demand by clicking http://www.di-ve.com/dive/portal/portal.jhtml?pid=8150&id=8157&programme_id=1961
