G3Torrent (http://g3torrent.sourceforge.net/)

A feature rich and graphicaly empowered bittorrent client written in python.

Change Log

July 25, 04'
* NEW Added the ability to select only certain files to DL from the Multi-File
Torrent manager.
* Updated the types of clients the program can recognize. As well as the types
of clients that can be spoofed to all the latest versions.
* Decreased the length of time the ballons stay on screen. its 8 seconds now.
* Preallocation no longer happens if there is just 1 single large file. For
multiple files, preallocation has to happen because of the way the mutitorrent
mngr works right now.
* Added 2 optional columns in the peer list view. They can be enabled via right
click to the column header. Totaly unessasary for most people, but may be
interesting to some.
* "spew" is toggled off now for torrents that are not currently selected or when
the window is minimized. This means lower CPU usage - Especially when there
are many torrents running. Also CPU time is much lower now when minimized.
* Changed the remove torrent hotkey to Ctrl+Del
* Numerous bug fixes

Wow, downloading now, from the screenshots, this program looks pretty cool. Anyone know if this uses multiple ports, or just a single, as Azereus does?

A lot of the BT community dont like this client purely because of the fact that it allows the user to shut off sharing, whilst still allowing the user to download. Im not 100% positive if the option is still in the program, but im pretty sure it is.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it still does either but notice in its feature list it has updated its client spoofs. I don't see why it would need this if it wasn't still a leech program.

Client spoofing is explained in the message board (@SourceForge) as pretending to be a different client. I don't know if this is the case or not. I'm just looking for a good client that won't piss me off on a continual basis. I have no problem with the ability to turn off uploading, as long as it's not used.

Well the problem is that the option is there to be used and abused, i dont really see the point of this feature on the bt network as it goes against everything it stands for. This client is bad imo. Of course if you use it diligantly then yeah, it aint so bad. Its just the features are there so some of the users are gonna be using them at some point to the detrement of other bt users.

I agree that it's bad if used. Definatly something that goes against file SHARING, but it cant be that hard to limit if not stop the uploads using a firewall or other limiter anyway. Well, I still wanna know if this proggie uses more than one port. I don't want to go through forwarding a large range of ports so I won't be using it anyway if that's the case.
