View Full Version : BT can't initiate transfers

I've managed to set-up BT so I get green signals but when I look closely all the connections are remotely initiated (R). I never get locally initiated connections (L). Since I have to wait for others to connect to me it's taking an awfully long time for torrents to get going and they never seem to build up much speed.

I've had this same problem in both Azureus and ABC. I've disabled XP firewall and my software firewall (F-Secure). In my router/firewall (motorola sbg1000) I've opened ports 81 and 6969 (both directions) for tracker communications and I've opened ports 51495-51503 (both directions) for p2p connections (one tracker I like doesn't allow the default ports so I have to use alternates). I've also set port forwarding for ports 51495-51503. Also I have to specify my local IP since my ISP seems to be using a transparent proxy.

Tracker communication seems fine (I can see the number of seeds/peers connected) and there's no problem with other people connecting to me. It just seems I can't initiate connections with anyone else.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.
