Hi All,

I am downloaded a number of video files off shareaza ver 2.0. The downloaded size on the client and its monitor window showed incorrect file size.

For example, in one of the downloads, the displayed file size is only 9KB/1.105GB but in actual fact, when I checked the file in the Incomplete folder, the size is already 1,149,681KB.

This is not an isolated cae, in fact for all of the downloading files, they have wrong filesize displayed as well. I can't even preview the files with "avipreview" program.

Is this a bug?

Thanks in advance!

many file sharing programs preallocate disk space to files so that they don't become fragmented during download...

that means that they will appear to be their full size, even if only 1% is completed.

Hi Cpugeniusmv,

Thanks for your reply. How can I stop this from happening since this is taking up too much of my diskspace.

Also, I have another MPG file which reported 76.65% completed with about 85MB. However, I am still unable to preview it; even with "avipreview" program.

Any idea why?

Thanks in advance...

i'm not sure if it is an option in shareaza, but sometimes you can disable "preallocation" in the options dialog box.

as for previewing...i usually don't. so i don't have any suggestions for that :-\
