To those of you who have dvd shrink, does that program allow you to decrypt and rip the dvd? I have seen many guides that say that you need dvd decrypter(the seperate program) to use dvd shrink. Can anyone help me here?

I like dvdziplock, and dvdstoragefrezerbags.. Dvdtinfoil is also another good one.
I would assume dvdshrink lets you take out the things that arent improtant or condense sertain things. Im sure someone will give you a website to go to with the right info. I havent seen this on www.mpaa.org They may be slow to releasing things.

To make things easier, we will use DVD Shrink for ripping the DVD as well as transcoding its material. In some rare occassions DVD Shrink can't rip the disc correctly -- if you encounter such problems, rip the DVD to your HDD first by using DVD Decrypter (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm) as described in beginning of this guide (http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/dvd-9_to_dvd-r_with_dvd2one.cfm) and process the material from the HDD instead of DVD.
See here for a great guide to using DvdShrink

I use dvd shrink as a stand along program, i dont use anything else on top of it. I usually like to keep the extra features and menu's, but cut out the 5.1 channel french audio and things like that, the things I'll never use. I dont use dvd decypter, although I think you only need to use it for dvd's that dont copy without the removal of copyright protection, correct?
But you should be fine with dvd shrink on its own. :-D

Thanks guys, I wasn't sure. I did just get nero 6 and I am curious if that will start up right when I press the backup button in dvd shrink?

If you need a good decrypter program, you can download a tool called DVD43. Do a quick search for it on Google. It will take a second to download.
I also use DVDShrink, and when I use it I have to choose the DVD Drive (with the movie already in) and then I usually Reauthor the movie and just add the movie in. This will keep the movie with awesome quality. Then I click backup, and away it goes!
It's an awesome free program!
