All these apps for sharing files are fine but what if you want an app for just transferring between two ppl, perhaps with firewall settings and what-have-you. I know, I know.. there's ICQ and Messenger, but both those programs come with their useless features I can do without.

Just wondering if there's a simple program for xfering between two ppl over the internet. Thanks.

Well you could setup a simple Web Server, and then just tell the person the url they can connect to, and download directly from you, or vice versa.

If you want to do that:
Abyss Webserver: http://www.aprelium.com/
Apache Webserver: http://www.apache.org/
SimpleServer WWW: http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/sswww.htm

Yeah unfortunately my ISP won't allow me to do that. Using FTP isn't really an option, even if I had webspace elsewhere because you're still having to upload then have the person download rather than just a peer-to-peer xfer. Know what I mean?

what's wrong with
a)ICQ
b)Msn Messenger
c)yahoo Messenger
d)Aim

you could even uses file and printer sharing over netbios..lots of options..but i'd go for one of the first four.

Yeah, if you want to just transfer files between you and a friend, messenger programs work great. I use MSN messenger quite a bit for transfering files and it works really good.

Winmx is easy to use to transfer files to another person. Just meet up in a chat room and start each other up. If you use winmx 3.31, you can use mxmoni and enter that other persons name into the options. Anytime they want something from you, all they have to do is click on a file and it will start for them.

Does MSN work well now for broadband? It was once slow as a Christmas card.
