safe from what? it's safer than kazaa, not as safe as unplugging your computer.

the speed depends on the bot. there are a lot of fast bots, but you often need to wait in queue to take advantage of their speeds.

the amount of files isn't really that great, but you can be sure to find newer files there. it's much like bittorrent in that it has the newer files before any normal p2p application.

Not that bad in queus if your sharing. Some of them will give priority to servers and shorter queue time. Its safe in one way, so many channels, so many networks. The best idea is to get in there, meet some people.. Develope some trust, and join their private channel. Some people watch others, and ask you to join and what not. I use peerguardian, and i believe that some people who are OP in channels, put riaa ip address on the blacklist. as well as spammers and crap.

And the servers and XDCC rooms have legal disclaimers banning employees of MPAA, RIAA, FBI, certain gvt organizations, etc.

which mean nothing.

Safe from getting caught by MPAA / RIAA / Coporation ?
Yes, depending on the network. Most mask your IP address. Also, the only way they can see who is downloading what is by viewing the queue lines and then performing a /whois on you. If the server masks your IP, then the won't get anything of use, especially if you use a proxy. If you are unsure as to if a server is masked, ask a local OP (a person with a @ next to their name).

Safe from hackers ?
Also depending on the network. I suggest you use a proxy if you're worried about it, but I wouldn't be. I imagine the most that could happen to you is a DoS from some script kiddie with a botnet because you're in a higher queue position than him. I really wouldn't worry about this either.

Hey thanks for the replies, i have another question, does anyone know if you change the ports on bittorrent to something like...3042-3052 would that be safe from the riaa/mpaa or would using irc with a server that masks your ip safer?
