so far I've downloaded Alice deejay- who needs guitars anyway (whole album) and summer sunshine by the corrs, but I think it's lacking in selection.

For instance I couldnt find anything by Sarina Paris, who is relatively popular, so I dunno. I'll look for that one on edonkey.

and I can't go over $5!

(by the way the allofmp3 explorer is better than the site interface)

Again, I'd love to contribute albums when I get back home here, but you know, they only allow sertain albums, so I can't contribute my stuff.

IF you have Sarina Paris. Upload it and they will credit you so you can download more. They only let you upload 384kbs, or FLAWLESS audio. So after you rip it, the uploader will convert the waves over and start sending it up.

What program do you use to generate flawless audio?

well theres several to choose from, but the program that uploads the album will do it in a dos window. If you rip an album thats 650 megs.. it compresses to 320 or give or take. think theres a program called ape.

this is the one that i have found that may be good for you to use.

I would love to see some people upload some of the Euphoria and Gatecrasher series.

Also, is there a special program you need to use to upload?

Yea I kept gettin the same thing. But I asked AllOfMP3 why it was doin that and they ask for a list of Albums I wanted to Upload. They only want Albums that are Wanted by people who use the service. Other wise I would use AllOfMP3 since the Albums are uploaded by other people then DRM.

I have looked in their list, and if they dont have it. I upload it. I havent used it in while since my hard drive is full, and the other 40 gig is failing me =( They have tech support, send a message and see why. Obviously people make request for artist and albums on the time and they add it to their list of wants. But i never got turned down on uploading an album, so i think it may be a new thing there doing. Otherwise someone could upload 100 songs of polka.

wow they have a lot more selection than itunes music store, I searched for sarina paris there and came up dry. and no zipped albums at emule. and it was popular too. well no way in hell im getting it at wal mart unless its under $10.

alot of the previews are just low bitrate versions of the full songs, especially the russian stuff. which is nice because i just listened to a whole album in preview mode, then decided that it was too blah and didnt get it.

they got so big music wise, that i believe that the artist they have.. and albums they have are part of the collection. If you have a Cinderella cd, and they have three of them.. More likely they will want yours. So they may not be adding artist that arent well known to majority of folks. Maybe there running out of room in storage wise. All those albums are on a computer system, and each computer they own will encode the songs, and send them directly to you. I dont think they would turn down cd's from artist that is listed, if the cd isnt on their list.

Hi. I've been looking at this site for a couple months now. Now I want to use it to track down difficult albums I have had trouble finding. A couple of questions for any users out there:

I live in the U.S. Is there any way they (the "bad guys," RIAA and their henchmen) can track down my IP and prosecute me. I know they usually go after uploaders, but you can never be too sure. :P What amount of risk am I taking here?

I found this quotation on the site:
Users are responsible for any usage and distribution of all materials received from AllOFMP3.com. This responsibility depends on the local legislation of each user's country of residence. AllOFMP3.com's Administration does not keep up with the laws of different countries and is not responsible the actions of non-Russian users.

Secondly, is there any DRM crap? If I purchase music I want to be able to freely do with it what I please. That includes, but is not limited too, the longevity of the tracks and how many times I can burn to CD.

Thanks.

EDIT: Gaahh....Well, I searched the forums and my first question has been answered sufficiently. Nothin' to worry bout, move on. :) I would still like someone to shed some light on the second issue if at all possible. Thanks again.

The mp3s will not be DRM, although the WMAs may be.

No DRM, and its completely secure. YOur downloading from them on a sercure server.
IF you are worried about snooping people. yOu can make the file come in as a .txt .doc. .exe. ANYTHing you want and then change it back to a mp3 file name by editing the extensions.

I recently signed up at allofmp3 and purchased a few songs. The thing I like about the site is they have content available in various lossless formats (FLAC, monkey's, WMA9, etc...). The only real complaint I have is not enough content in the lossless formats.

Yeah, I just talked with the support people and they said they weren't interested. I am trying to determine what the criteria they use for deciding which albums to add. I wouldn't be surprised if they only accept albums from labels for which they pay licence fees for.

I think they would only take albums they didnt have, or only had low bitrate versions of. I only have some of my uncle's old classical music CDs and one by the Clash, so I dont have much to upload.

I asked Tech Support and they said this

TechSupport: Practically, we looking for all not presented on site music. If You will upload music, please send Your album list (post here or send on admin@allofmp3.com), and we explain our standards and how to upload.

lossless format is reletevely new. Unless people want to rerip their album collection in lossless and then share it. It will be more wide spread over the next year.
