I remember k-lite was removed from download.com because of copyright infringements. This one may too because of 'bearshare' being a registered name. I'm gonna try ir out. Thanks. I'll reply if it works.

It's the lite version allright, But i'm more comforrtable with using a borrowed version of limewire pro. I don't like limewire because:
-It automatically makes a 'my downloads folder', when i specify another folder for the downloades to be placed in, this folder stays there even though i hadnt downloaded anything.
-It automatically shares my files, i'm sorry but i only share on the bitorrent network. It seems as if all the files in the lib are shared.
I think that i could unshare the files had i spent a longer time using the progg but i just don't like it. For gnutella client, limewire pro is just my choice as it is 'nicer' and more polished.

You shouldn't leech. It's bad for networks. There is just no excuse for not sharing when using Limewire. I could see if you Kazaa and are scared to share movies or music, but I mean come on.

aight is it really lite or what?
MushroomheadXIII

Yes, it's really a lite version. On gnutella i once read there are more subpoemas (riaa ppl). I just but my upload in bitorrent to 25kb/s. 32 is my highest but if i put it to that the whole network experiences lag.

If it was, i would have found spyware/adware on my computer, but yes i did have my doubts. I think it will be removed off the site soon. I still reccomend limewire pro.

Its good to see clients moving to the clean side :goodjob I suppose they had to do something tho, as LimeWire would be the obvious choice for users being clean an all'/

Don't be praising them so much guys. The latest Bearshare beta was always spyware free; now they're only letting you use a Lite version of their latest beta without spyware. The regular beta has spyware and the Lite version isn't as good according to them (and me).

You'd better not talk like that or there's gonna be alot more bad threads about you!!! :;)
"Pro, and to some lesser degree regular BearShare, will perform better than Lite in terms of downloads, streams, search results, find-more-sources and generally every aspect of the program. This is to reward Pro users and incentivize people to upgrade by offering them better performance. We want people to know that, so they have a reason to upgrade. What good are incentives if they are kept secret?!
In fact, ultimately, I think it makes sense to release all the details about what the differences are. For the time being, let the marketing department think about this a little more, and we'll see what happens. Thanks for your patience."

Its hosted on the officla bearshare site, the don't put a download link in the original downloads section(use your common sense to find out why) - why would they make a lite version? They still have the add supported version though. This puzzles me, what if sharman made their own kazaa lite?!?!

I still think that the leading gnutella client is limewire.

Also the latest betas dont have adware, they show up clean in Ad-aware, they might have pop-ups but I block them with Norton Firewall.

I am a relative p2p newcomer but after instaling bear share and running pest patrol, bear share is deleted! This is the so-called lite version. At least the weather thing is gone....
