listen up i just had an idea i got this idea off photography industry when u buy some photos off them they transfer the copyrights to you from them because u have buy them right not all do it but most do

it could be the same for legitamately bought make it law when a person buys a cd it has the copyrights to that cd because it has bought the cd right and make copy protection illegal because that is impinging on his/her rights so the person the person can legally burn,rip,swap there cd's and shit like that this could work in other mediums like dvd's,subscription file swapping,video games,computer games etc etc

You only get a license when you purchase a cd, and a restrictive one at that.

I think the problem with this theory is that normally only one print is made of the photograph/ artwork and therefore can only be sold once. They would not make as much trying to sell something everybody has. In music it's the opposite, people want something thats popular. Therefore it wouldn't work, no one is going to sign over copyrights for $20 when they can sell millions of cds. The only other way would be to raise prices to millions for a cd.

Because right now, you're song won't get on the radio unless you sign with the record companies. You dont get on the radio, and your cd wont be highly publisized. Your cd doesnt get highly publicized, then not many people know about you. If not too many people know about you, theres no purpose to do a concert. And since concerts are artists main income, they need everything down the ladder so that they can have high attendance at concerts.

Well, dock0184, it's easier. One, they get a lot more publicity easier, two, they don't have to worry about things like making the CDs and permoting them; they just have to focus on keep doing what they're doing.

I agree with that somewhat, but there are independent label artists who've been getting plenty of publicity and exposure. Ying Yang Twins rings a bell....
