hi

i'm having some problems latley with winmx downloading.
it connects fine and finds the songs and everything. when i go to actually download it either won't connect, puts me in qeue or nothing happens.

i did try waiting in qeue for about 1-2hours with no luck. I'am on a 5mbit connection so i don't think that is the problem. my server i use is opennap and there are many connected in the list.

i also noticed that it doesn't even show anymore the "1 of 10" type of connections available just some server name to the far right. i'm i doing somthing wrong? is my list bad?

please help me here, anymore information needed i will provide :)

tia.

There are alot of fake songs on winmx now . These people with said files are unaccessible, as its not possible to connect to them even with all slots open. Its been going on for a while but I haven't heard much about it lately.

But, if your searches are coming up with a server name, you are not necessarily connected to the WinMX Peer Network. It seems your connecting to an Open Nap server or servers. I may be stating the obvious but under "networks" are you connected to the WPN or open nap?

Are you firewalled? I've had trouble with WinMX behind firewalls before - same problem...

NapMX is the OpenNap List builder I use...Make a new list and export it to WinMX...

Same here I wait for results for ever and finally give up. I have no problems with amy of the other progams that I use I tried doing a beta testing as well and still no results. Turned off my firewall as well onn both programs. Still No luck. I will stick with my other programs for mow. I use emule, Iphant and a few others Use Limewire as well No problems there I liked WinMx and hope they get it to work.

It's not good to post file names.

I changed over to shareaza, and after searching the faq, setting up the router and firewall, i've been downloading from 65kbs to 645kbs. Sweeeeet.

I don't get results when searching with a primary connection (all port forwarding is done correctly, settings are correct). I am able to make a primary connection (or at the very least, the client is telling me I’ve successfully made a primary connection).

A secondary connection works fine, with the exception of impossible queues that I don't even get on in the first place (I usually just get a busy response), though, this is not a "problem" but more of a WinMX inadequacy.

Now, this was with v3.31. Perhaps this has been rectified in the new version.

Anyone else have/had this exact problem?

I have been having the same problem. Whatever happened is strange. I checked my my music folder and it said I had 4500 files and took up 10gb of my hard drive. I knew that this wasn't right. I moved all the files that I could see out of the My Music folder and into another folder. There are no files that I can see in my My Music folder, but when I right click it and click "properties" it says that there are still 3056 files in there taking up 4.5gb of hard drive. I first noticed the problem downloading Ray Charles - Genius Loves Company- Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Not sure if thats really relavent but I wanted to include it.

Now if I had 3056 invisible fake files in my shared folder, I bet its happening to other people too (multiply 3056 times the number of people logged on to winmx at any given time). This would account for all the hits when searching and the inability to download.

I think at some time in the future that we will find out that someone was able to hack the network and corrupt our files. I hope someone figures it out soon.
