Viva la FidoNet! (Any chances of Stormnet coming back?) No, there doesn't have to be just one internet. I envision multiple internets. (Or "outernets") Where you can have your own TLD such as ".BBS". Personally, I think the BBS community was screwed when the internet got big. Make your own internet and get as many people as possible to join. Why are you waiting for IPV6 on AOL/TimeWarner when you can get it now if you do something yourself? Must EVERYTHING be connected to everything else? A private internet sounds pretty nice don't ya think?

i think you may have a bit of trouble talking all those ppl spoiled on fast BB connections
into going back onto a dialup network
but if you could have cable on this altnet
i think you might need a huge infrastructure
and quite a lot of money behind it....

I'm not a fidonet expert, however it still does exist, and, -i think- it can be accessed via broadband cable, dsl, etc now via telnet. Actually, I'm pretty sure, just don't remember where I saw it.
