Well I hope they can actually stick to the release date. I wouldn't be surpised if it isn't released until Christmas or even next year.
I remember when HL2 and Doom 3 had the same release date. It would have been interesting to see them go head to head on the same day. It's too bad that they both keep getting delayed.

It would be nice if they went on Head-To-Head but they both want the #1 chart spot. So it looks like Doom 3 is to be released first.

Half life 2 will rock but I am really waiting for a multiplayer Doom 3. That would kick so much ass, and I could play in the middle of classes.

Doom 3 looks much nicer than half life 2, but half life 2 has a better story. I think I will go with doom 3 as that is more my style. plus half life 2 has older stuff so Doom 3 should be somewhat better in most ways to me. I dunno how to describe what I am saying.

Well, Half Life 2 will work on a lower scale computer, even as low as Pentium 3 733MHz but doom 3 needs a Pentium 4 1.2GHz nothing lower.

I knew someone was going to bring up a comparison. Damn you megaman :P
I don't know. I think almost hands down Doom will win with Graphics (They said they have almost achieved the level of Pixar). As for story it will be hands down Half Life 2. After that it gets complicated. The best engine will be the hard one to determine. I know how good ID is with their engines, but that Half Life 2 engine is impressive also. My old roommate said he thought that Half Life 2 was going to win it (And he hates the first half life).
As for best multiplayer, well I think that is going to be pretty obvious if Counter Strike is going to be the Half Life 2 multiplayer. It may not be as fun as the Doom 3 multiplayer, but damn will it ever sell big. I think Half Life 2 will spawn more mods, while Doom 3's engine will be used for more games to be built on after.
I understand you megaman when you speak of Half Life 2 having older stuff, but didn't they upgrade everything and start over in some areas after their code was stolen?
I don't think either one will win anyway. They both will be fun and I can personally say that I am going to purchase both. I'm not even a gamer, but I do appreciate games that set new standards and I do have the hardware to run both, so why the hell not.

Doom3's multi player dynamics will kick ass notice i did not say multi player as a whole, since it is p2p code; only 4 players max, and NO CO OP! Doom 3 multi player does not allow the hosting of dedicated servers, you all have to launch at the same time think command and conquer from 1995
But the lighting and using the environments to your advantage will be very interesting in doom 3

For people who dont have internet access, i think Half Life 2 would be a better choice, because Half Life 2 has a great story. But the new Half Life counter-strike is a great multi-player game...

You must know nothing at all about games if you think that Doom 3 is gonna beat half-life 2. I mean, have you ever played half-life? That game is amazing, and the guys at Valve really really know what they're doing. And Counter strike 2 will be the best multiplayer game around for a long time. It will combine the ultimate Counter-strike gameplay with the best graphics around, and the best physics etc. If it will take full advantage of those possibilities, it will rock.
On the other hand, Doom 3 will be quite a good game too, with maybe even better graphics and physics than HLČ, but that is of lesser importance. What is important, is the gameplay. Doom 3 will offer a stunning, creepy, jump-off-your-chair gameplay. But thats it. i mean, Doom 3 is nothing but tiny rooms, and creepy hallways. Half-life 2 has vehicles, great outdoor locations, lots of variety, a good storyline, kickass facial animation. So basically, Half-life 2's gameplay will be much much much better. ID software has put too much effort into the graphics and physics, but thats not the key to a good game. Maybe thats your definition of a good game, but not mine. You have to be fresh and varied in the gameplay. If possible, combined with nice graphics and physics. Half-life does that all.
Oh, and whats all that b/s about Half-life having OLDER stuff? WTF? You gotta be kidding me. Half-life will be the most innovating game in ages. In fact, it will be the most innovating game since half-life 1. Doom 3 is anything BUT innovating. It's the same gameplay as it was like 15 years ago, with the first doom games. I think you guys are way too intimidated by the graphics.
So Doom 3 or Half-life 2? >> I say HALF-LIFE, for sure.

Since Half-Life was released in 1998... But they must have updated to the latest technology, PC Gamer, PC Zone and others are saying the characters are more lifelike then any other game yet. Same with Doom 3, they must have been working on it for years and years

Actually, Doom 3 is using the same engine as they used in the first Doom years back (Before half-lif was released) I think Doom was released back in 1995

Are you retarded? No, seriously, how can you actually even consider typing that it has the same engine. It has a COMPLETELY new engine. :green4

ok, mistake 1992-3 then, and no, have you not seen on reviews PC Gamer mag and others... It all says there.

If those magazines say that, I would stop reading them.
My loyal Belgian PcGameplay magazine says it's a completely new engine.
And just think logically for a second. If the engine was the same, the gfx should be (nearly) the same; If you keep the 3d engine, you basically keep the graphics and possibilities. Doom 3 has stunning graphics and physics, so basically, saying that it's the same engine as in 1993 is... stupid. It's a new engine... moving on...
