security problem with azureus...

Its a great idea to have the peers cached so if the tracker is down you can still download, but when anyone with half a brain can open up the file and see all the ips, thats bad.

heres what i found at the end of the actual torrent file that azureus made (as a backup mind you)

(i put in the *** so peoples ips wouldnt be revealed, in the file they are seen in their unedited trackable form)

I am getting constant firewall hits from people trying to connect to me even when the program is not open.

Figured i would share this with everyone and theres nothing you can really do to stop it because its other peoples clients logging your ip. Why dont we just tell the RIAA and others that we are downloading stuff illegally?

heheh.. if we dont log, we still get caught.. riaa just downloads like we do and get a list .. bt is not safe.

um your firewall logs all ip addresses that your connected so it wouldnt matter.
second you can use that dos command netstat and find ip addresses your connected to, it doesnt matter.

bull s--t anyone can get your IP [they have to download part of a file from you to have a case]. you figure how to stop them from doing that. I'm not going to type all of that crap over and over. I back trace all the time to see who tryed to connect to my computer find ther ISP location name etc. Just because you see your IP you get scared to death, it's not a secret you know ,how do you think azureus found it! try doing something your not used to .think

you can get an IP list with anything--just type netstat -n in the command box

doesn't matter what you connect to--any p2p, a website, home network, proxy server, whatever--if you connect to something, its IP is in netstat
