Question about BearShare

I finally convinced my kid it was time to get out of Kazaa. I have a question about BearShare. I know most of you are going to think it's not worth answering but I hope someone will take pitty on me and give me an honest answer. Is the "Host" actually the uploaders IP address? If not, is this run through a hub or where does this come from? It seems if it were a real IP address it's asking for trouble to use BearShare. Thanks.

um if u upload your ip address will be shown to others if that is what u worried about, the risk is not to great as with every p2p u will share, and your ip address will be shown.
