Hey, folks! Are you befind a firewall or proxy server that doesn't allow you to use file sharing apps? Well, here is a solution for you. Download a tunnel program called HttPort3.

http://www.htthost.com/

This program can let you bypass annoying a firewall and/or proxy server. Just make sure you read their instruction and FNQ's and use it properly, and I guarantee you that this really works.

The only problem is that this program can be used only with apps that are able to use Socks4. So, programs like KaZaa may not work. I have tried with WinMX and eDonkey, and they both work fine as they support Socks4.

Happy sharing, everyone :)

If you register, they can give you a faster connection, plus if your proxy supports SSL/CONNECT, you don't need to register and yet get a fast connection. You can say whatever you want, but I am the living evidence. I am using eDonkey with HttPort3 unregistered, and I am downloading movies at over 60 kb/sec. I even got a 700 MB movie file in 5 to 6 hours. Now, you tell me this is not worth a try.
P.S. you probably need to learn how to talk to people.

For the love of God someone help me!
I've been breaking my back trying to get Kazaa to work through my firewall. I know very little about computers and I think I need someone to walk me through the process of setting up a P2P connection.
If you can help me, please, please, please e-mail me, or contact me through AIM.
Thank you.:fire

Hey. KaZaa supports SOCKS5 but not SOCKS4, so you can't use HttPort3 to for KaZaa. You could try to find a tunnel program that uses SOCKS5, but I would just switch to a program such as eDonkey and WinMX and go with HttPort3. Why waste time when you have something that works for sure? Besides, KaZaa sucks anyway.

Sorry, but I had to mention this. My download speed reached over 80kb/sec nearly 90. I wonder what kind of idiot called HttPort3 slow and useless. It's such a great program.

@electricpenis... If ya use socks2HTTP you can use KaZaA from behind a firewall, if you use sockscap32 with it.. you can use apps that don't even have socks-compatibility in 'em.

Anyway.. both progs are good. But I'm really suprised that someones getting 80k/s with HTTPort, I mean REALLY suprised, Ima DL this latest version and see what it's upto. bbl...

First of all, HTTPort does not require you to enter the "Host name or IP address" & "Port" each time you initiate connection because once you entered them, they remain there recorded. All you have to do is load run the program and hit "start". If you are wanting to use file sharing apps from behind a firewall, all you need to do is "find a host name or IP address along with port that your computer uses" and "let HTTPort do the work from there." I don't see how difficult or annoying this simple process can be. Finding out IP address isn't hard at all either (for those of you that don't know how). You can detect with command line while you download a file from somewhere (more details are on HTTPort website). Oh, and, I'm sorry to surprise you even more, but I'm afraid my eDonkey reached over 90kb/sec once (though only once) since the last post. Anyways, all I wanted to do was to help people out there that are suffering from firewalls or proxy servers like I was. If my act bothers your egoism, satisfy it by means of making your own post with better info to help them.

If you want to download from 100 different sources do you not have to reconfigure HTTPort for each one any more??

HTTPort is good (especially with SSL-Connect from the sounds of things). Socks2HTTP and Sockscap are good alternates too and don't require any config changes for adding new remote addys (and work with Socks5). Just thought I'd point out another good alternative. (see the post i made ages ago for more info, it's in this 'connecting' section of the zp forums) ;)

To Method

I don't mean to insult you, but your question is so damn... Please visit HttPort's website and understand how it works before you post a question like that.

To Jorge.

I visited the back to school page, and it had a pretty good explanation about firewalls already. I don't mind adding some more info such as how exactly you are bypassing the firewalls, but I see you added links to HttPort website, which has good support sources for that kind of info, so I don't think it's really necessary. If you want me to, please yell at me, and I'll be glad to be your help.

GT.. I see ya point, if the software itself can run through a Socks4 proxy.. it's no problem at all. Shame they don't seem too bothered about Socks5 support tho. and all those apps that don't support socks at all. - but i understand! ;)

Do you have any good proxy in order to reach
60-90Kb with Httport ?
Could you share it with me ? or any hint on how to find good proxies ?

thanks

Take a look at HttPort help that comes with the installer, which should be in HttPort file (usually, c\programs\HttPort). That has some good info. Also, their website provides Q&A for HttPort.

P.S. For all of you that ask for instant help without making your own effort, please try to find the answer to your question before you ask in forums. Most answers are out there on the internet or even in front of you. You just need to open your eyes. This should also help servers that support forums by not wasting their web space.

Yes, i do read all the help files and online Faqs but it does not give me any good proxies. it gives u sites, info where to find them, but lets say multiproxy.org - the most common. there are a lot of proxies and 99 % does not work. the 1 % that work are extremely slow. that's why a few days ago I requested via a post someone to give me a proxy that they use so i can put it into a tunneling program. interestingly, NOBODY bothered to reply to my post and nobody whants to share a proxy with me ? !! Is that such a big deal? I mean, i need some help and have been trying those proxies for quite some hours - unsuccessfuly. I posted a thread and nobody replied me. So it is not that if someone is asking a 'simple" question or request he/she is trying to load the forums with junk, but we need some help.

I appreciate a fair answer when I ask a fair question.
IMHO You should have said something like "I don't want to give you any good proxy because I spent a lot of time looking for it" and I would have understood. I tried several of the proxies contained in the FAQ link, I managed to establish a connection but not a fast connection hence my legitimate question.
If you don't want to help why you are still posting
on a forum ? to repeat stuff that anybody can read in the FAQ or help section ? I always read every info I can find before asking in a forum that's why I don't like those insinuations of yours.

I'm not bothering you again.
bye

FASTEST SOCKS PROGRAM EVER!!!

I would like to point out that there is in fact a faster socks tunneling program called bouncer.
I have used httport for a long time and have achieved speeds of 150 kb/sec with it. I have also found socks2http to be very unstable when downloading at speeds of over 50kb/sec even thught it does support socks5, an implementaion missing from httport. I discovered bouncer some months ago and have been totally blown away by the results. I currently reside on my university 40 Mbps connection and with bouncer can achieve speeds of 2-3 megabytes/sec through kazaa and winmx, without boncer crashing. I highly recommend this over httport, socks2http or httptunnel as in my many years of firewall traversing it is easily the fastest tunneling client i have ever used. There are no limitations as it is FREEWARE.
The only requirements are that the http proxy u are using supports SSL. It is a command line tool although there is a gui available for those uncomfortable with a dos prompt . My favourite feature by far is its ability to run sveral socks connections simultaneously on multple ports. Ideal for those of you like me, who have a habit of running kazaalite, winmx ,imesh and edonkey simultaneously.

Please remember that the commandline bouncer must reside in the same directory as the gui as is is only a frontend.

HAPPY DOWNLOADING.:fire [SIZE=1][FONT=arial]

Hey, zarquon. I checked out bouncer but found many negative comments about it, so I decided not to use it. If anybody else tries it and has something to say, please share your comment in the thread for bouncer, not here.

To some people that asked for fast proxy servers. I think you don't really understand. I have no right to post someone's proxy address without his or her permission. Also, keep in mind that it is hard to find a free proxy server that is fast and that most of the times the best way to get a higher connection is to use paid fast servers OR TO FIND FAST SERVERS AND USE THEM REGARDLESS OF THEIR PERMISSION. But, of course, this can lead to a legal issue, so I do not recommend you to do this.

However, if you are desperate enough to risk yourself, here is what you need to do. First, think of servers that hold big capacity and have a vast access on the net. Second, suspect if they are likely to check connections to their servers periodically. If they do, they will find you and terminate your access. There is no sure way to know about their maintenance system, so you just have to use your brain and think like a fox. Third, download some file from the server, and obtain their IP or server name with command prompt while your computer is connect to the server for the download. Lastly, just punch in the address in HttPort and keep your fingers crossed.

Some servers are free. Some are not. So, if you use the method I described above, do so at your own risk. I will not be responsible for any problems related to this topic.

Now you understand I was not being greedy and not sharing my server address. If I was selfish like that, I wouldn't have posted this thread to help others. Good luck finding good servers.

P.S. I do not have a perfect, fast server address to start with. I have changed servers I use several times accordingly.

One more thing I wanted to mention. Are you people realize that this thread is under "Advanced users"? Some of the damn questions shouldn't even be here. Like I said before, read the instructions or get help from the maker of the program.
P.S. Just saying, "I can't figure out how to use it" or "I can't get through firewall" never gets you anywhere. Whoever is up to help you need more detailed informations than that.

a LOCAL port scanner...

hmmmm... wonder what that means then??

could it be that it doesn't check request to external ports... if u can use a webbrowser from where u are.. connections out to port 80 are not blocked. and... if u haven't got the ability to use SSL/Connect method.. well.. heh... forget it!!!

Try using http-tunnel, just google it.

zarquon
February 18th, 2006, 07:27 PM
Just make sure you point you socks config to 127.0.0.1:1080. IT will be slow using the public tunnel, max 30-40k. For higher you will need to subscribe.

jamesivanov
February 18th, 2006, 09:35 PM
Are you saying to use socks32 kind of application to setup socks 5 with 127.0.0.1:1080....Or use HTTP Tunnel only.....And I did it with HTTP Tunnel only.. but the emule servers cannot be connected...?

zarquon
February 19th, 2006, 06:43 PM
No need to use sockcap, just run http-tunnel and then configure emule proxy settings for socks 5 , 127.0.0.1:1080

jamesivanov

Yes, I tried it but emule seems to be very slow to connect even......Will it take so much time....

zarquon
February 20th, 2006, 09:11 AM
It will work but it will be slow cos you're using the public tunnel. The subscription tunnel is much faster but it will cost you. Its the only thing that will work though unless you have proxy access that supports ssl.

uncheck "safe connect" and uncheck "reconnect on lowid". This may help you connect to the good networks. Also make sure you enable kad.
