Hi. I am pretty new to p2p, and have only used Kazaa Lite so far. I have a broadband internet connection, and I find that Kazaa has many files available for download, and that they download at decent speeds. However, surfing this site I noticed that p2p programs such as Ares and Shareaza have been rated higher - yet when I downloaded and installed these, the files I tried to search for obtained no results...? I am looking for some advice on what sort of p2p program to use to get maximum download speeds on a broadband connection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I'm just like u my friend. No matter what comes out or how bad people knock It I alwayz turn back to Kazaa. Ares looks good but not enuff people/users/files available. eDonkey 2K has everything u could want but it's slow as hell. I like u have a broadband connection (cable modem) & I say stick wit Kazaa Lite unless there's a game or movie u wanna D/L & yer Scurred that it'll be F'ed up...Then use eDonkey to get it of Sharereactor.Com.

Ares and Shareaza are both good clients, but they are on
the Gnutella Network, Kazaa is on FastTrack.
FastTrack is about 5 times bigger than Gnutella, so you will get more results, also Gnutella tends to be a little slower, so you have to wait before you start to see results, sometimes.
If you would like to try a different program with good speed, download Blubster 1.2.3..........
It you use XP download 2.0 Beta1.

WinMX is another one you should try, and probably won't be dissapointed... except that files tend to go into queue a lot (that's when you have to wait in line to get a file), but they will almost always finish. If you join some channels on Filetopia, you can browse users' files and that works pretty well. For audio, nothing beats SoulSeek (www.slsk.org). Overall though, KaZaA Lite is one of my most used programs.
