I'd say mine is definetly metal/heavy rock, despite the fact that I listen to pretty much anything... I don't like the totally unappealing stuff, but I appreciate good guitars, good voices, and good music in general. To fall under the category, I like stuff like A Perfect Circle, Slipknot, Rage Against the Machine, etc...
One thing though, I think you should add a few more categories. Four doesn't seem like enough. What about Jazz, Country, or even an other category? For example, my friend Geoff only listens to Jazz, I don't know what he would pick from the choices.

I had the mods update this poll to include Country/Western, Rap/Hip Hop and R&B. I also removed the Classic Rock, so if you like that you could probably vote for Metal/Heavy Rock and leave a post saying you like classic rock.

I hate that genres exist for people to lump everything into.
According to the rules of the genres, I listen to mainly indie rock.

British folk music. Thick as a Brick, Battle of Evermore, John Barleycorn, From the Beginning,
Anything by Bert Jansch, and so on. British folk has far more tradition to draw on than its American
counterpart.

Digweed and Sasha are super tight, but it's a toss up between Electronica and Hip-Hop/R&B, so I don't know what to vote for.... totally depends on the mood....

I like anything that doesn't make it into the US on the dance scene, and automaticly hate it when it gets to the US, or have been hating it for six months.
Well most stuff anyway.
I like the trancier side of dance, as well as real trance, not to much into dj sets yet , I don't even get why, I just don't like them for some reason.
I hate house with a pation, I just don't like the sound.
Other then that, I sometimes dabble in the odd top40 song that doesn't suck, same with rock so im pretty open to new bands.

Classic rock, Heavy Metal, Alternative/Grunge, "Hard Rock", or any perhaps any other. Punk rock and rap-rock, etc, are excluded.

90's grunge and Offspring are both pretty sweet. Smashing Pumpkins are one of my favorites.
I love grunge, but it was upsetting when STP was put down for supposedly being a rip off band. As my friend Jay put it, "They were the only group that continued making fan favorite hits year after year, Scott Weiland had the most range of any grunge singer, and their guitars were tight and catchy riffs, rather than jumping around with solos like the rest of the grunge bands".
I was definetly a fan then and I still am now. It's a shame that Layne Staley died, Chris Cornell quit Soundgarden, Kurt Cobain died, the Smashing Pumpkings broke up, Pearl Jam never wanted to be big, Screaming Trees broke up, STP I think finally broke up, etc...
Lets see, for all those losses, we ended up with Jerry Cantrell solo (big deal), Audioslave (critics hate them, Cornell even quit for a while, then came back (bring back RATM!!)), Foo Fighters (love'm), Zwan (anyone actually like them?), not so great Pearl Jam songs, Mark Langeran solo (critics love him, but no one listens to him), and Velvet Revolver (Awesome group, they sell out every show they do in advance. Love the new album).
Well I guess there were good sides and bad sides.

I love 90s grunge and mostly alot of other stuff from the 90s. I mostly listen to anything that sounds good to me, I dont like to limit my self to one style of music. I like what I like and thats all that matters but I tend to stick with alternative rock.
