I think that a nice, vanilla "ban him for the real" would have been nice. Psilaxs isn't very good at making polls, or perhaps he has a better sense of humor than I give him credit... nah.

If Notbobs ban is not lifted by management that only proves there aren't any non-gay socal guys cause banning him over something like that is totally gay.Allowing the ban to stay is even gayer.

It is a one day ban, for failing to follow forum rules. It is not personal in any way. We are trying to present the site in a better light, without being tight asses. Look, this place is a much more open place with the present crew of mods compared to what it used to be like a long time ago. Personally I have done what i could to back up the members here, and to me this seems like such a small request.

I will let you all know that any major decision made, be it by soulxtc or another mod, does not happen without discussing it with at least one other staff member. In this case, at least four of us were aware of what was tranpiring.

Actually it was a we bit of a thorn for a while, and if i was any kind of man I should have brought it up earlier. Look at the chance of runing a bad reputation Soul is not a bad guy. We work with him on daily basis, and he has busted his ass to get many of the problems we all have had taken care of. Did I like him at first? No bleeping way, as we are used to voting the mods in by their qualifications. I hate having things, or people thrust upon me. He has discovered we are a pretty tight knit crew, and he has done a lot to fit in. I want the traffic up, and so does he. None of us want to spend our time fighting, and bickering. Hell if Notbob is willing to make his title something nice, Im willing to change mine to say "Notbob is a nice guy" for a 2 week period that is, as I like to change mine also.

I've got to agree with this. Every time theres a controversy on zeropaid you can guarantee some lameass will be dusting off an old clone that wasn't even funny three years ago.

and a handful of old time members who get away with Murder.

This is the age of equality where we can speak our minds as always but for the sake of civil order
some of the shit that used to be giggles will not fly anymore.

You can swear but don't put vulagaraties in your user name, pure, crystal clear.
We all knew about this when it went down, this is no vendetta and it is because
we looked at each other and said as the caretakers we have to hold everyone equal.

The fact is it is not.

Some long term members have this culture of entitlement
where for the longest time they got away with shit
that most new comers would never get away with
and it chases away new people or keeps them from posting.

Some of you for example:
1) Argue with mods over judgement calls
2) Troll openly with no fear of reprisal (some of which lately have become aggresive personal attacks)
3) Flood the boards with useless shit

Many a time a thread that had some merit has gone to shit because someone from the old school ranks gets ansy and stirs the shit pot.

The rules of the forum are simple and here they are in plain terms:

Show some fucking respect to everyone and you will get it back

If you want to know why something was closed or why a call was made,
feel free to ask but dont argue about it and when it is laid down all the mods are aware and when its done its done.

If you have a problem with someone because they are attacking YOU,
let us know and they will be dealt with.

If you have a problem with someone and they don't do a damn thing to you at all
then hit ignore.

Don't troll the shit out of them through rep or pm.

This site is for all ages but the flavour of the community is because we let people be themselves.
Also some people actually come here to learn and ask questions and not just sit in the lounge to pass time
Hence highly visible and juvenile titles like "go fuck yourself" "Eat shit bitches" will no longer be tolerated
for good taste and just common fucking courtesy but on the other hand this forum
thrives on the diverstiy of minds and opinions so as always we encourage you to speak freely as you always have.

From this point forward the rules apply to all of us equally
and everyone can have the assurance they can speak their minds
without having to worry about flaming and trolling from a select few
and know that there is nobody that has any special consideratiion.

We are all here to enjoy ourselves and lets just do that.

of course that isn't how it happened. soulman banned notbob without even so much as a pm. nobody else asked him to change his user title

by the time he did figure out what was going on, he was in no mood to comply and do a favor for soulboy

if all this discussion went on, why wasn't notbob notified? a little communication beforehand leaves a much less bitter taste in someone's mouth than an unexplained banning as soon as he logged off


i guess its about time I spoke up here, its only fair. First of all, I did PM him and asked him to change his user title, BUT, that was after I discussed it amongst the MODs and asked them what they thought, even took a poll to see how we all came down on the issue.


Second of all, he was only temp banned for a day because of his own doing. Hunter talked to him to no avail and he seemingly refused to at least understand, if not agree with what we were trying to say. He had only to change the user title to one that wasnt so explicitly confrontational. I mean what if my user title was "suck my dick" and a somebody visits the site and thats one of the first things they see? Not only would I look like an ass, but it would also reflect on the site and make us look stupid as well.


As far as censorship goes, the rules are clearly stated and we will NEVER censor peoples content as long as they follow those guidelines. To say "fuck this, fuck that" will always be okay, and even "go fuck yourself" to the degree that its in the context of ones words and thoughts and doesnt cross the line. Nobody hates censorship more than I, as having spent a good portion of my life being told, if not ordered, to act and behave according to the dictates and whims of others you tend to have a newfound appreciation for the ability to do and say things as you and not somebody else chooses.


In short, its really sad how much this issue has been drawn out. If you guys only knew how much time and effort the MODs and I have spent on this trivial matter youd have a better understanding that it wasn't done with haste nor lack of reflection before acting. It borders on the immature that one cant at least agree to disagree, change it and move on.


Instead we have GRAB ready to make "Free NOTBOB" t-shirts and apparently a resurected poll to garner support, which too speaks volumes of apparent stubborness of character.


The last thing I want to say about all of this is that throughout all of this insanely drawn out nonsense, the subject was discussed and debated with genuine concern for the community as well as NOTBOB. But, in the end its the community as a whole, those who have been here for a while, those relatively new, as well as those still to come that is our ultimate concern. It is a healthy environment that we seek to foster here, one that is conducive to the free flow of thoughts and ideas and where one can do so in an atmosphere that encourages and welcomes the contributions of all.


Static greetings like "Go Fuck Yourself" has the effect of repeating a message with no context, unlike when in a post, and in fact creates both a reaction and impression of hostility and confrontaion that goes precisely against what the forums are all about.


Please note also that we temp banned NOTBOB only after much reflection, it wasnt a choice made lightly, as he too makes an important contribution of ideas to the site, even if some (i for example) disagree with them. A healthy viewpoint can only be made after listening to the opinions of all, and I think this too is somehting that some must consider.


To close, NOTBOB had only to change his user title, no more, no less, and as I said at the very least he could simply agree to disagree, change it, and leave it at that. I hope now that perhaps some of you, if not all, understand now that it was not some random act, and that it was done only after proper discussion and consideration amongst the MODs, and not the result of some sort of arbitrary act on my part as I have been accused. Nobody likes to be the bad guy, and its especially so for me because I recognize that those here before I have a set of unique experiences and knowledge of this place that I must learn from and respect.


To note, I was reminded of when I first came on board that GRAB was banned by HUNTER, the reason eludes me, and me, wanting to make a favorable impression seeing the outrage that ensued, overrode and lifted the ban. Irregardless of GRAB, the choice to ignore experience and knowledge, especially HUNTER's, was a poor one, and since such time I have come to consult with him in all matters of importance to make a more informed decision that takes into account his take on things, an opinion I value greatly.
