Unless it's a Microsoft, Adobe, or Macromedia program (which I'm 99% sure it isnt, because those just deny access to the program if they know it's illegal) then I doubt there will be much, if any consequences. It's a good thing you un-installed that program, as you can never be too safe, although I'm betting that that program had built-in "scare-tactics" so that it would scare you into un-installing it, although I cannot be sure, so better safe than sorry.

Don't know why, but it sounds kind of trojany to me. Is that possible? Could there be a trojan that scans people's systems for known cracks, then installs a message in the startup? Is that possible? I've never heard of such a thing, but it wouldn't surprise me. It would be interesting to know if something like that existed.

you should not have allowed it to access the internet. block it with your firewall and they will never know you are using it.

Is the program "Tweak(Insert Operating System Letters here)"?
If so, don't worry about it, because it's a good 'ol routine of scare tactics. But yes, not allowing those kind of programs to access the internet would be wise.

just stop using it or block it from accessing the internet as has been said previously....some well-known download managers and other apps send the same message if a crack or false serial is used to activate them...the pop-up killer admuncher, for instance, is another that has this unfortunate habit.

Werent there 2 assholes making these little viruses to "stop" internet software piracy? They made things that got posted to kazaa and when you downloaded them they gave you a "warning" that was similar.
Sounds like spyware or a trojan/virus. Run an updated antivirus and then spybot S&D and maybe adaware just to make sure.

As I remember it was a program created by two low lifes to scare people into staying away from downloading programs off of the internet.
I would check your startup and try to find it.
Start>Run>MSConfig>Startup
Never encountered it myself, but I would be more careful next time and scan files, never download any cracks off p2p, leave that to the well known web sites, also I make it a rule for myself to never download any software applications that arent at least a few hundred megabytes (even then your not safe).
As for consequences you have nothing to worry about, just a stupid program.
I would try updating your Windows client, and your Anti-Virus software, along with the Trend Micro housecall stuff, the one you download thats a java application and scans your files for you, not sure about the website so you'll have to do some hunting.
I usually am ultra paranoid delete everything on the computer and start fresh type person, but this I would not be too concerned about.
Try downloading Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D (both free applications and dont forget to update them when you download them) to see if they pick up this thing.
It might be in your startup so check by entering the following:
Keep safe, better luck next time.

How to get rid of GameGain:
I clicked on the bottom link which temporarely closed the POP UP window, then i uninstalled the program. afterwards i had to go into "C:/Windows/" and manually delete sysutil.ini, & sysutil.exe (actual files my slighty vary in name). then when i rebooted my computer no more pop up screen.
good luck with this S.O.B.!

A general rule for those that don't know much about the windows registry, BHO, etc. is to use a program like "HiJackThis" to find anything that'll auto-load with Windows, IE, etc..
This will give you a list of items, one (or some) of which will be the cause of the problem... do some searching for each item that you don't recognize as a genuine part of Windows. - Then delete the dodgy ones.
There's also "Start" -> "Run" -> Enter "sysedit" - to view other files that are executed during boot-up although most progs just use the registry.

yeah, just uninstall and reinstall it after cleaning every trace of it off your system. Then MAKE SURE you deny it any access in your firewall settings.

I had too that scary "illegal key detected" "you could be in the jail for five years" "you have to pay 250,000$" :mellow Admuncher was program. Should I be worried about this? I live other side of the world where Admuncher is developed. It would be quite strange if they come and take me to the jail... Do you have experience of this admuncher's scary popup? I have uninstalled it and I don't use it anymore. I use now Firefox and adblock which is the best pair! Admuncher web site they say:"if the user is found to be using an illegal registration code the recorded information is the user's IP address and time/date." Nothing else. They don't say they come and take me to the jail and put me pay 250,000$ for them.

super ram popped a piracy notice on my screen , i uninstalled the soft , but they say they got my ip and stuff ; i live in Europe in a non-UE country. the software costs 13$ and creates a sysutils in windows ; it also creates a "sysutils /PIRACY" in startup.
is there any danger?
it's the same thing tiarew got ... is he in jail or on the streets begging?

Don't forget, that just because you "uninstall" it, doesn't mean it's traces are 100% gone. You need to clean out the traces of the software from your registry!

Greetings,
I just wanted to give everyone an update on this GameGain problem. It has now been over a year since I had this problem, and gotten rid of it. There has been NO PROBLEMS with authorities or anyone else (ISP, Lawyers, etc). I have been contacted by other users and constantly asked if I "got in trouble", and every time I've had to clam them down and tell them nothing bad will happen.
This program is simply a SCARE TACTIC, and an annoying file. Once you remove it you'll never have to think of it again. There is no need to reformat your hard drive, just simply follow the instructions in this forum and your problem will be gone forever.
It would be illegal for the company to slip in a tracking code that could copy your IP address and send it to them. Even if they said it was only used in priated situations there is still no legality to it. Furthermore, if they did somehow (which they 100% don't) get a hold of your IP address, there is still no way IN ANY COUNTRY they can use their evidence to charge you with anything, since they got their evidence illegally.
So please stop worrying. Just uninstall this file manually, run spybot & ad-aware, plus your anti-virus, then call it a day.
Cheers,
Devin

Ok, Ill try helping you. First of all Ad-aware and Spybot are not that good, they're just popular. I suggest you try something like Ewido or a-squrared. Next go to command and msconfig and see in both startup and services if its still there. Post if this helps or does not.

-i cant find a-squrared
-comand,startup,registry and config are clean
-i've tryed registry firstaid, registry mechanic, spyware doctor,spybot,ad-aware,regvag and some other apps with no result.

Have you even tryed to google the problem? Google is God you know...
or go to - Start>Run>MSConfig>Startup and untick "C:Windows\SysUtl.exe"\PIRACYand remove it.
That should stop the pop up.
Also if it has the word "BOOST" or "GAIN" it probably doesn't work.
