NEW YORK - The spiritually inclined band Creed, whose anthemic hits "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open" helped them become one of the top-selling rock acts of the past decade, has called it quits.
Three former Creed members immediately announced they were forming a new band — minus singer Scott Stapp (news) — but were quick to say it was not "just Creed with a different singer."
Creed's three albums sold a combined 24 million copies in the United States. While many critics dismissed them as pale Pearl Jam imitators, Creed members used that as creative fuel and laughed all the way to the bank.

It's about time. The only good religious/christian song ever is "Spirit in the sky" by Norman Greenbaum. Organized religion is one of the worst things ever to happen to mankind.

Oh that's not cool dude. Just because you have nothing better to do does not give you any reason what so ever to make a really ignorant judgement about myself or anyone else for that matter. As for my musical tastes...you have no idea , so please...take the lightbulb that you thought gave you this idea and shove it. :ass

i liked em, they were good, weathered was nice
I lie awake on a long, dark night
I can't seem to tame my mind
Slings and arrows are killing me inside
Maybe I can't accept the life that's mine
No I can't accept the life that's mine
Simple living is my desperate cry
Been trading love with indifference
yeah it suits me just fine
I try to hold on but I'm calloused to the bone
Maybe that's why I feel alone
Maybe that's why I feel so alone
Me...I'm rusted and weathered
Barely holding together
I'm covered with skin that peels and
it just won't heal
The sun shines and I can't avoid the light
I think I'm holding on to life too tight
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
Sometimes I feel like giving up
Sometimes I feel like giving up
Me...I'm rusted and weathered
Barely holding together
I'm covered with skin that peels
and it just won't heal
The day reminds me of you
The night hides your truth
The earth is a voice
Speaking to you
Take all this pride
And leave it behind
Because one day it ends
One day we die
Believe what you will
That is your right
But I choose to win
So I choose to fight
To fight

I heard Scott Stapp turned into a huge asshole. Could that be part of why they split? The band members were tired of their stupid singer?

I really like Creed. they are the Closest thing to Album Oriented Rock Today. Today's music has no theme in their CD's but Creed like Black Sabbath's Paranoid has a theme. Listen to My Own Prison all the way through or Human Clay and you'll see the theme. Problem is most people listen to mainstream Radio and hear the smashing hit from an artist and think every song from that artist will sound the same. I listen to Dio, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Ratt, Rainbow, Rush, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden and more. So I know what I am talking about. And no Pearl Jam does not sound anything like Creed. Those who think that base it on songs like My Sacrifice and One. Try listening to Into The Grain by Creed (If you can get it). You'll need to search on p2p as its a bootleg Demo. Now that is really creative.

I liked their first album, i didnt buy any of their albums since i heard most of their stuff on the radio. I heard awhile back about him hurting himself in a car accident, but i never heard any tours or radio appearances for at least two years. So im sure they was done way long ago..

Creed's music was nothing but pap, complete junk.
Attempted emo with big deep supposedly 'powerful' vocals which is so insincere.
99% of music is written and recorded because someone had a job to do and Creed falls into this category. I hope I am never subjected to their like ever again

I just wish that bands like Staind and Puddle of Mudd disbanded.
I guess that a lot of people are tired of third-rate grunge imitators. Nu-metal is already
dead and i think that post-grunge will follow.

1.) what are you talking about? plenty of bands have themed albums.. like Linkin Park. No wait, thats just cuase all their songs are about the same thing.
2.) who are you to comment on mainstream radio... you listen to creed.
3.) Of course Pearl Jam doesnt sound like Creed. Maybe thats why Pearl Jam is good and Creed is bad.

No man, you got it backwards. Creed is good and Pearl Jam is bad. Creed rocks for the Lord (not me mind you, unless I crank up thier shit!). God only summoned Stapp for a Holy Quest. The band is strong in faith and they will persevere.

Just a minor nitpick...."Spirit" isn't really a religious song. It's more of a goof on religion, with it's sleazy riffs and all. Besides, Norman's Jewish, he doesn't even believe in jeebus. :)
It is an awesome song though. Dr. and The Medics do like a 30 minute version of it at their shows.

You ever watch behind the music on VH1.. I saw one on creed and about him righting a song about his baby and all sorts of things. ANd yet they go through all that crap and cant make it through these bumps in the road? They have money and can be a cause of breakups and bad relationships. They are just a bunch of idiots.
