Im new to fixing consols and im just wondering how hard would it be for me to do this

http://www.modstation.eng.net/repair.htm

Ive changed the spindle before and i also work inside computers quite often but i was wondering what are the risks in dooing something like this. Im asking since if i do screw something up i don't think I would be able to figure out exactly how to fix it. Well maybe I could, that would bring me to my second question how easy would it be to undo the changes if i screw up?

Try to adjust the bias or gain as shown in the note. That should be just a little pot or turn screw you have to adjust. Should be simple.

As for modifying the laser - if I were you I wouldn't try it. That's a "have someone show how first" project.

its no big deal since ps2 is less then 150 now, I would buy a mod that i got, which was a swap card and disc. I undo a few screws on the front. . take off paneling. use the little card given to pull the disc from the tray, and to insert the burnt game. For xbox, you can send it away to get redone.. Or order one that comes with LINUX, 120 gig hard drive.. and the ability to rent XBOX Games, and save them on the hard drive and play them from inside... ANd can turn the mod off before going online to play xbox live.

can't beat dreamcast's ease of piracy. No mod chip or boot disc needed.

Well lets put it this way after I bought one, about 20 other peolpe at my school bought one. The fact that it was piratable and played snes, nes, gb and many more consols is what attracted the most of them. It is still on par with current generation consols especially ps2 graphic wise. Gameplay wise I would place it much much higher then ps2 the games are just fun no messing around. I imagine il always have my dreamcast.maybe my friend will sell me his 120 games.
