Hey, i'm just wondering (me being a BtYahoo subscriber), if anyone has had any trouble with sharing on their network, and if so what was the extent of punishment?
As I dunno what the current situation is with the UK and it's policies on sharing music or movies, was wondering what would happen if I was caught and BtYahoo are told.

Thanks to anyone who can help on this ^_^.

i worked for bt there for 2 years and if your caught they cancel ur contract and terminate your connection and in some cases they blacklist you to oftel which means that oftel (being the communication regulator for all communication companies) will also inform ntl and they may even blacklist you.but in most cases it will only result in ur connection being stopped and maybe a fine

Wow, sounds harsh. Ok shall be careful on this one ^^;;
Shame though that BT aren't as lax as others which just say "Don't do it again".

I have to say I find that hard to believe. I know plenty of people with BT broadband who use P2P loads and none of them have ever had a problem. Personally, I'm with NTL - and I haven't had a problem with them either.

The point is, the ISPs don't care if you use P2P so long as you don't use it 'excessively' and put strain on their infrastructure. It's the industry groups that you have to worry about.

I'm with them and have been for well over a year now. Never had a problem.

Yeh that's what I thought, was wondering though what their process is if they are informed that one of their users is sharing a file. Dunno if anyone has been in that situation before however in the UK and on BtYahoo...

They wont give a monkeys if you fileshare. As long as they get your money they wont grumble in the foreseeable future.
