View Full Version : FileSharing behind a HTTP Proxy

I connect to the internet from behind a HTTP Proxy in my university (just port 80 is open). It supports just GET and POST methods and not CONNECT. Thus any file sharing software, such as Kazza & emule, can't connect.

Hopster works well, but the specified bandwidth by the Hopster is very low (2 KB) while my HTTP bandwidth is high (128KB).

Now, does any expert know a way to have a high bandwidth with the mentioned properties for using file sharing softwares?

I have the same issue at school, we have all ports open, but there is a proxy server that we can use to get around the bandwith limits (1.5 GB/week up and down). It also doesn't support CONNECT, and I was not able to find a way around it all year.

If someone else found a way, I would love to know too.
