two words... fuckin' sweet!
I think this is a brilliant idea. The addition of the touch sensitive screen is too cool... four face buttons, WiFi, and will be compatible with GBA... Nintendo has a killer HW... this thing makes the PSP look old (which it is... old ideas...expensive, whoopdie doo--looks like a Lynx).
I haven't purchased a GBA, since it can be emued and I wouldn't play games on the road generally, but this will take games to a completely different level. I am rather impressed by the demoes that they have and the new possibilities by the HW.
BTW... how about that new Zelda game?

For a console unit it caught my attention. I do not have time to play games anymore, and the industry really needs to abandon the cart system for a all you can download system for 9.95 a month.
The hardware looks great, but it will take several years before you have enough great games on the system. Who has time to play 100 hour games anymore? I don't.

why would you want it to be portable?? Play at school when you should be working, play at a park when you could be sitting home in air condition.. why would you need to play a video game outside of the house?? Ride a bike. You can enjoy more games, and do more with xbox.. and you can get a carry case and transport it.. and theirs tv's in hotels.

Get rid of the graphics and look at it. It's ugly as hell - it looks like one of those 1000-in-1 things you can pick up for a fiver.

Dude, what are you? Like three? This is what your post should have looked like:
[The Nintendo DS is a] waste [of] time and of money. [You should instead] get an XBox, {which features netplay via] XBoxLive. [You can] buy the games when [THEY ARE] 20 [dollars... years old? WTF? I mean really, what the hell was going through your head?]. [You can then] kick some butt online[!]
Just for your reference:
Their = Denotes possesion of two or more people (e.g. Adam and Eve bought a house. I am going to their new home to see it).
There = Denotes a location (e.g. Their house is over there ).
They're = contraction of "they are" (e.g. They're happy in their new house over there).
If you follow these simple rules, you can eliminate one of the errors that you frequently commit and look less like an illiterate fuckwit.

but the psp has next to nothing battery life. my powerbook can last longer playing a dvd then that thing can. the max you can get from a psp is 10 hours... and that's in "audio only" mode. my ipod lasts nearly 10 hours on a full charge. if nintendo can keep battery life up, they will win out.

Obviously this thread wasnt going to consume most of my time. TWENTY DOLLARS!! XBOX Games arent 20 years old. Why would anyone buy a portable gaming system when its practically inappropriate to play it anytime and anywhere. If your going camping, sitting in the back of a van for few hours on a road trip. I doubt this game will have that many third party software support.. and these game systems that are portable keep coming out with the new technology that soon as you buy them.. spend 30 on the game.. it be obsolete as for alot of friends and other people keep moving on. Buy something that you might not lose behind the sofa pillow.

Most of the games are poor quality, except for a few of them. My portable sega and gameboy sit in ziplocked storage bags. I only bought a psx to play ff7, and last year found the time to play ff9.
The older I am the less time I have to play games, and less and less interest overall.
I might start playing games again if I have kids, but unless graphic cards do photorealistic reality, I think I will just wait a few more years when photorealistic 3d games rendered at 30 frames a second exist ... some expect the technology to be there in about another 3 to 7 years.

Its a shame that you of all people ken, and wingnut have nothing better to do then to come to this thread and talk about me on here. You dont know me! And you both dont have to waste your time, as well as my time talking on here. Freedom of speech and freedom to express it. Its not a spelling contest. Its not to see whos smart and whos not, its about participating in a discussion. You both need a life. Why do you both care so much of how i type or what i do? I dont hate you, i dont appreciate the fact that if you want to correct me, or say something to me. DO IT IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE, your saying this on here to make others view me different or to make you look better. If your better then me, act like it by private message. Calling me a illlitterate fuckwit, and slow is inappropriate. Please do not talk to me, do not quote me, and do not say another word to me unless its an apology. If anything i say is useless to you, please put me on your ignore list. As i will not REFRENCE things, quote, speak or make the impression that we are friends here that could joke, kid around anymore. Im good at two things in life, what i do at work, and how i take care of my family. Spending time on here is hard enough since i have my time divided doing things on my house, with my wife and family.

This really doesn't look like a huge improvement over the Gameboy Advance. I think the PSP is cool but it will be out of my price range. I think I'll just stick to my Gameboy Advance SP until they stop making games for it.

I never called you an illiterate fuckwit; I just said that by knowing how to use "their, there and they're" correctly people wouldn't think that you were an illiterate fuckwit.
My post was purely informative, just trying to give you some helpful information and show you the incomprehensibility of that post in particular. If you look at the suggestions and clarification that I provided, you would see that your original post was confusingly worded, even for a rapid-fire, colloquial posting. This is the reason that I likened this post to a post by a three-year-old. It is as if you were trying to transcend even the minimal requirements for meaning, using telegraphic speech in a form similar to children. But they, unlike you, lack the ability to interlace interlace their sentences with modifiers and helping words to help others understand what you are trying to say.
My point is, why even post if no one can understand what you are saying? There is none.

Some info on the handhelds and other stuff...
LOS ANGELES-- The Electronic Entertainment Expo has celebrated its tenth loud and proud year of showcasing the next year's hottest digital games. Whether you prefer consoles, handhelds, or the good ol' PC, plenty of great stuff was on display here (plus the usual abundance of cheesy crap). Our intrepid editors were there to take it all in, and here's their take on the whole noisy mess.
Best of Show
DS Not BS: Nintendo's dual-screen DS portable sounded like more of a publicity stunt than a game play enhancer, but after getting my hands on the device, I'm sold. I played a four-person wireless match of "Metroid Prime: Hunters," where the upper screen displayed the map and the lower screen showed first-person action. Looking and firing with the stylus took some getting used to, but it is worth the learning curve. --Joel Strauch
PSP Looks PDC: Sony's upcoming handheld looks Pretty Darn Cool, offering beautiful graphics plus stellar video and audio playback capabilities. Not only will you be able to play slick-looking games on this bad boy, you'll also be able to watch movies and listen to music. But why can't Sony roll out a product this awesome without trying to cram a new format down our throats? About the only thing universal about the new Universal Media Disc seems to be Sony's hold on licensing rights. Still, if I can eventually burn shows from my TiVo onto UMDs to view during my commute, I'll be among the first in line to buy the PSP when it ships early next year. --Tom Mainelli

i have a DS and i fucking love it. i think the PSP is nice too, but for everything that is good about it, you have a negitive in its place. sure it has good graphics, but its costs a fortune. it has high cap disks, but it has low battery life. it plays movies, but you have to buy an expensive MEMORY STICK DUO card. i think the DS has one flaw, the two screens. either both should be touch sensitive or just have one really nice screen like the PSP. all anyone has been able to figure out what to do with the second screen is menu info. sure its nice having it always availible, but its not neccessary.

I sure am thinking of getting a psp for playing on breaks at work. I never get any time off, but my work load is starting to lighten so maybe soon I'll be around more soon, so I'm thinking of getting one so I can get a quick video game fix. What do most people recomend? PSP or DS? Please some one tell me who own both. wait just a little while longer for the import of the "play yan" to hit our shores. the play yan is nothing more than a GBA cart with a SD slot in it. this will allow you to play movies and music on your GBA or DS. there are two STRONG benefits over the PSPs playback abilities.
1) its SD cards. they are the most common and the cheapest. the memory stick duo costs about 50% more depending where you shop. you will also be able to use your SD card in other things like palm pilots, non-sony digital cameras, and even some boom boxes. DUOs work in PSPs and some sony cameras
2) the smaller screen, though not and nice as the PSPs, works to its advantage. the movie file sizes are smaller because it doesnt need to fill the screen as much. you get a bigger card for cheeper than you can fit more on. it works in your favor in every way.
whats really nice about the play yan is that it will work in a normal GBA. this means that you can get one for $80 and not have to pay $250 for a PSP. you might total $250 after buying the play yan and a memory card, but comparing costs, the 32MB card that comes default is wortless for anything besides game save files.

there is a Nintendo DS cart copier/development system. It does not crack the encryption, but if you use an existing commercial cart, it verifies that the cart is authentic, then the add-on diverts the code.
People are working on cracking the encryption also.
A cart copier is used by developers to test code and also play games of OTHER developers.
A very educational and fun tool if you know how to use it and the internet.
