Here's a good way to tell. Open up the case and look! Thats the first thing I do when I get a new computer, is open the case.
You will also get a lot of info from Aida32, a program that Krell, several others here, and I all love. The main site is down (the project is discontinued), but you can still find the last version made at http://www.majorgeeks.com/download181.html
It should tell you.

Even simpler, go into BIOS and see if there's a setting for AGP aperture.
Oh, and do more research before buying a new computer next time, eh.

even easier:
go to the display options and tell us what kind of video card you have. if its intel integrated, no you most likely do not have an agp slot. serves you right for not doing your homework and researching what you're about to buy.

He doesn't need to scroll up. If he had AGP it would show up in System Devices.
Looking at his list he doesn't have it.

Yes, we can see the video driver infomation. Some onboard video uses the AGP bus eventhough the motherboard doesn't have the slot for it. I have an old VIA board that I working on with onboard VIA AGP video and no AGP slot, but I think VIA cheep.

Just open the Darn case, there should be an AGP slot in there. Most manufaturers have a board that has an AGP slot. The white slots are PCI and the AGP slot is slightly brownish with a clip/clamp.

Your first problem was buying from hp never buy from one of those big company's your just getting yourself into trouble. Dell, Gateway etc... They all suck, if you want a good machine you should of went to a small store in your area and got them to build it for you or get one of their specials. Quite frankly I havn't seen a mobo that didn't have a agp in a long time. You got shafted live with your ignorance.

Could be wrong, but aren't some of the new Sony Vaio's coming without AGP? A buddy bought one a while back and was quite pissed to discover he couldn't install his 9700 into it. . . that wasn't more than a year ago.

Have you tried checking HP's site support?
Sometimes they post computer information of what comes with the system and the specifications.

Fuck the warranty, it's there to limit what you can do with the computer while squeezing you for more money. You can't tell me you will never upgrade certain aspects of it at some point or another.

Try using an information utility to gather some rather good information bout your system Aida32 (http://fileforum.betanews.com/download.php?fid=1033800563) or SiSoftware Sandra 2004 (http://fileforum.betanews.com/download.php?fid=952306152)
I have a system with an agp slot that is not being used. My system is using the onboard graphics that is mounted on the board.

arent we suppose to be boycotting HP since they are becomeing old pals with the RIAA and DMCA software as well as hardware is going to be made into it. You never need or use the warranty anyways. Only time you need warranty is if you buy it online and have someone built it for you. If anything goes out, its not hard to get replacement part that fast and easy.. just go inside your PC withhout any screwdrivers and make sure its shut down.

if it was a gift, why are you gonna piss & moan about something as minor as agp? somebody took the time and money to get you the computer, be thankful. don't be some spoiled, stuck up, little brat... there are too many of those people in the world today.

Personally, I would void the warranty myself, open it up and upgrade it, then if something goes wrong fix it myself.
However, there really would be no point in asking if it has AGP or not because you wont open your case, soo....If you plug in the video card on the bottom of the case where the cards are supposed to go you probably have a AGP card IF IT IS THE FURTHEST TO THE TOP on the card setup since your AGP is almost always the furthest to the top of the I/O slots.
On mine the following setup applies for me.
Example:
AGP
Soundcard
Network Card
But however if you plug yours in on the top by the mouse keyboard usb serial or parallel connection, then it is almost definetely integrated on the motherboard.

I agree with Omyn, if your not going to open the case because your worried about a warranty, you dont need to worry about the AGP slot. I would be very suprised though if it had no slot at all. Its more than likely not showing up because no device is installed.
Intergrated graphix cards suck! Now, open case, look for empty slot, dont worry about warranty, they'll screw you anyways.

I take back what I last posted. The other day i cracked open my friends new E Machine, which said on the sticker it had an AGP slot, only to find no AGP slot. The whole computer was a piece of shit. It has a 2.4Ghz processor but the performance of the computer is piss poor. My Athlon, which is 2 years old, at 1.333Ghz just blows it out of the water. Im just not used to clicking on a program and then having to sit and wait, and wait, and wait for it to start up. But hes also installed a bunch of crap I tried to tell him not to like Kazaa and pretty much anything else he finds amusing. I told him I would just reformat and stat over. He didnt seem to keen on the idea but surely E Machines performance cant be this bad!? Are PCI video cards worth a shot? Im sure it couldnt hurt, plus he only has 256 of memory which I told him would be my first upgrade before a video card. Anyone else have an E Machine?

i have a e machine its abit old though its 1.4ghz 512 ram and iv got a geforce 4 in it but thats in a pci slot cos this doesnt have a agp slot either but it runs fast and iv never had problems with it i use it mainly for games and p2p and everything runs perfect.....are agp really that much better than pci??

If you're going to be playing games on it, most definately. First thing you'll notice is the slowdown and jerkiness. Also you'll have to play the game on a low resolution. Not nice.
I'd use this HP box as a second PC. Use it for simply downloading and browsing the net. You don't need a Radeon X800 for that.

Some video card that build on the newer mother board are AGP, maybe not a good AGP video processor but it is AGP. You don't need a AGP slot to have a built on the mother board AGP video, the drivers would normally tell you if it AGP or PCI. The manual also could tell you also what protocall the video uses. The newer motoboard should use AGP but remember check the manual if you have it or download it if its online.
