View Full Version : Zultrax
zultrax

We just put Zultrax version 3.9 on our website.
Zultrax is a multi-network P2P supporting both Gnutella as its own network Zepp. It can be found at www.zultrax.com (http://www.zultrax.com)
I have learned that the members of this forum can be critical, sharp and cruel.
Nevertheless we could really use some feedback.
We tried hard to create something good. Zultrax is stable and free of any adware or spyware. One of our main aims is to make filesharing very easy.
So, if you feel like, have a look at it and let us know what you think about Zultrax.

Your site clearly states Zultrax is encrypted, decentralized, and it has privacy? No MP3 program has real efficient ecryption and if it does it is slow and unreliable. Don't turn around and say well Zultrax is all of these things because it is not.

I slightly disagree.
You must have read the line With the ZEPP protocol Zultrax introduces a way of sharing and downloading files in which you are anonymous. on our site. This line claims indeed a little more than what we have to offer. It is in the next line that we correct that
"Be aware that we do NOT guarantee or promise you a total privacy. All measurements we take to protect you are technical and can be hacked."
Encryption is also not the only way to give more privacy in a P2P network although it is important. A very strong encryption indeed would ruin the speed although not the reliability. Still, because of the performance we do not use such a strong encryption in Zultrax.
A large group of P2P users is asking for more privacy. Other P2P clients are also busy with this feature. Privacy protection is important and desired for by a large group of users. The fact that a perfect protection is - already due to the nature of P2P - not possible must not make us stop aiming at a level of protection as high as possible.
I will rewrite that line on the website to avoid confusion. We do not want to claim or suggest that we offer a total privacy. Thanks for pointing at it.

How is it possible that you give registered users 35% more speed? This is not possible, unless, for instance you limit the downloads to 100 KB/s for regular users and 135 KB/s for registered, which is usually not the case for file sharing networks anyway (except BT) and isnt proper for the makers to do. File Sharing should be free - without limitations.

Another thing I may suggest is to totally redo the site. The site looks very cheesy. If you are not an expert in graphic designs and web development, I would highly recommend paying someone to do it for you.
I believe that appearance has a lot to do with how successful something is going to be. It may be sad, but our society loves appearance.

Website poorly coded.
Exaggerated claims of anonymity
Pay money for better speeds.
Encryption isn't really relevant to the type of protection P2P users seek (at most, it is #2 on the list). It's the connection.
IPs can still be harvested. No proxy, no nothing. Admit it, you pulled the anon card to get users, didn't you? You’re dishonest.

easy, have the software bad 30% garbage into every packet, or send 30% garbage packets

Argh!? after visiting the site i need Visine, ow, what is wrong with a simple color scheme using LOW INTENSITY colors, I am in no way a professional web designer, but try to mimic something like my site http://www.core.binghamton.edu/~vurel/ It's not that great, but it causes no pain to the eyes and i think the image navigator is kind of nifty

I can't say that I will ever try this client because it does not offer anything new or improved over other networks/programs.
However! I think the website has been improved IMMENSELY over the previous versions. It doesn't look like it was designed by an ape anymore.

With a website looking like that, no one will download you product, anyway, this program connects to Gnutella so.. there are much better alternatives E.G. LimeWire, Morpheus, BearShare...

Thanks for all this nice responses. For now we harvested already a textual change on the website and indead a less bright background color looks a lot better.
easy, have the software bad 30% garbage into every packet, or send 30% garbage packets
There might be other ways to distribute bandwidth without having to send garbage around.
