Kazaa wont complete start up! Please HelP!

Ok, so when I click on the KazaaLite Icon to start it up, the program gets stuck every time it tries to initiate the interface. At first I thought that it was getting stuck when it was tryin to load the start page, so I went to the registry and changed it but it still didnit work. I tried reinstalling Kazaa, multiple versions, 2.4 2.6 , cleamKMD, all kinds of Kazaa but it keeps getting stuck at the same place during start up and it wont respond. Can anyone tell me whats going on? Thanks.

I agree Ares is way better then kazza, just make sure when ur installing it to deselect nav helper. If u insite on using kazza, try going to the ZP programs and find overnetlite then go to that webpage and you will find kazza p2p, then choose

When you say that you've reinstalled K-lite, did you just go to Add/Remove and figure that was good enough?

After you uninstall K-lite, go to the program files folder and delete the K-lite directory. If you feel confident enough with your regsitry skills, remove any registry keys left over. Now install K-lite again. Make sure you're not sharing any files (for the time being). If that works, then go and share your files.

Sometimes when you share large amounts of folders/files, k-lite locks up, or seems like its stuck for long periods of time.

Programs don't just stop working. Its something you, or another program did. So if you can figure out when it stopped working, maybe you can figure out what you changed around that time. Hardware? Spyware remover? Install another application? Other programs that run on the same network? Etc.

check your firewall, check for a corrupt file in your shared folder, check for a corrupt db folder.

you can also bootup in safe mode and see if klite starts or not. if it does then you got some kinda of a conflict.

some windows update have also been known to cause this. run the compatibillity wizard on klite and see if that will do it

you maybe able to get Kazaa Lite working again, but in my opinion as a former Kazaa Lite user its not worth it. I used Kazaa Lite for years and finally gave up in total frustration. here are some of the problems I encountered :

1. When you search a file you may find dozens or hundreds of links but the vast majority are worthless. Many will not connect at all ever and are dead links. Some work for a while but stop before you complete the download. Many take days or weeks before they will work.

2. There are so many fake or corrupt or virus laden files that its not worth the time to keep sifting through them hoping to find the good ones. I tried downloading some files over
10-12 times and never found a valid copy of the file despite tons of listings.

3. Kazaa and the fast track network have become not only the number one target of the RIAA and CRIA and others like them, but they are also the favorite dumping grounds for people who want to plant fake and corrupt files, phony file links and files with either viruses or warnings against downloading. Its not worth putting up with all that crap.

4. It was taking me weeks and longer to complete many downloads and several never did complete. They advanced to a certain point and just died. I suspect Kazaa Lite and many fastrack clients have not updated their file links to determine whether they are current and many dead and outdated links still show up in file searches. Many are dead links from users such as myself that abandoned fastrack. The user base is shrinking and its very difficult to get many files of good quality there.

5. They hash only a portion of the files being downloaded instead of the entire file as other programs such as E-Mule and Ares do with the result that you may play a song for example and get 1-2 good minutes followed by an annoying and ear-splitting shrieking, grinding noise. I encountered dozens of songs and fileslike this.

6. Its not worth it. Get out while you can.Save yourself. The lifeboats are still available (not too overky dramatic I hope but i look at Kazaa and the fastrack network like the Titanic.Its only a question of when it goes down ) :black

@method, if you getting fake files on fasttrack thats your fault learn where to look.

if you don't know where to look you can get fake files on any network.exclude irc and news groups.

My shared folder has no corrupt files, the db folder is here C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Kazaa Lite\db and the registry tweak is called userfix and its in the kazaa lite resurection directory. The db folder opened when I clicked on the kazaa lite resurection icon in safe mode but after useing userfix, it opened normally in safe mode but in normal mode, kazaa won't start.

oh you should have told me it was klr. in these cases i'm sorry but klr is too damn buggy for me to trouble shoot, with klr it could be so many things i could not even begin to guess. with other version i could trouble shoot but klr has got too many buggs boss.

if you want to try klite 2.4.4 or klt k++ then if you still have that problem i can help you. klr i don't mess with because its not a real program and when you resource hack a program and you don't know what you are doing this is what happenes.

i would recommend you use klite 2.4.4 (packed by dg_mortal) or klt k++ 2.7.0 or k-lite2.6 any of those three are good stable programs

so let me make sure i got the problem correctly, when you start klt it boots up and then gets stuck?? is that correct??

if so, you said you have sp2 and even tho the sp2 firewall is down you have infact forwarded the ports for klt correct??

if the answer to that is yes also (and please remember your port with klt is different then klr) then please tell me if you have any other kind of firewall and if so what kind??

I tried running it without zonealarm running as well but klt always ran flawlessly with klt in the past so I dont think thats it. Besides, many klt users use zonealarm with no conficts. if it runs fine in the safe mode that means that you got something blocking it on normal mode, you got a process somewhere conflicting with it. what you are describing is symptoms of klt getting blocked during connection. most times it the firewall. in your case it could be sp2 or za. i would look at those 2. i have seen cases where only after the user uninstalled za that klite was able to connect.

imo best thing to do is to trouble shoot za, uninstall it and see if klt connects in normall mode.

quick question, do you let it sit when installed or when do you end the klt process?

also have your forwarded klt"s port in sp2 firewall?? (not shutdown sp2 firewall but forward??)

oh ya and do you start klt with windows?

Actually Kazaa Lite K++ 2.43 works fairly decent for me on Windows ME. Much better than any other fasttrack application.

Make sure the version you get says KL Extensions 0.56a by Rocko in the about dialog.

emmn, sorry that is one of the problems with klite 2.4.3 its not upto date, hate to break it to you, but the last extensions by rocko where 57.a, 56 was the old one. however with win ME you might want to say with 2.4.3 or better yet get the real 2.4.4 witch is by dg_mortal.

aha thats a nice one, so every time you try to run any program and it does not start, you get ride of it. so how many operating sysstems have you gone thru so far??

any possiblity that the problem here is not the app but the enviroment that the app is in??

if you answer is no then you could explain to me why so many klt users don't have this problem??, i mean if its the app itself then shouldn't i and others have the same problem??

If its Kazaa lite 2.4X, it wont work anymore.

My friend had the same problem. He formatted the drive, and redownloaded K-lite. It installed, but it would never run.

Try downloading Kazaa lite resurection. that should work.

first off klr is ad supported how can you recommend an ad supported program??

second if you take the time to read instead of just wanting to promote that ad supported crap you would see that he already had klr.

tell your friend to uninstall klr and install atleast klite 2.4.4 i mean your in reality your friend has a klite 2.4.3 anyways but since it been hacked with resource hacker its not even as stable as klite 2.4.3.
