That's right, another new member with the same old question, what's the best application to use for filesharing? I'll add a twist to it though. I'm out in the country on dial-up. I connect to my ISP at a mind-blowingly fast speed of 26.4Kbps and have a hard time getting files on Kazaa and Shareaza. Kazaa is the best of the two though. I can usually download from the web at around 2.5KB/s - 3.5KB/s, but on Kazaa I rarely get over 1KB/s, and Shareaza rarely connects to a source at all, and then it's only a few hundred B/s. I guess I'm getting left behind in this high badwidth scene, huh? Well :finger :finger lol
Anyway, I was wondering if there are any good programs that I can use on my slow connection to get music, and a few bits of software. I rarely get anything else.
Thanks in advance, and please forgive me for asking you to recommend software yet again.

Is your isp meer.net? This sounds familiar to me. I just moved away from a place like that. I connected at that same speed for 3 years. But those days are finally over!

When you use Shareaza are you connecting to multiple networks? Shareaza supports G1, G2, ed2k and Bittorrent. With your modem speed, you should only be connecting to G2. Connecting to the other networks will use too much of your bandwidth.
Good luck!

I don't like Shareza...never felt like connecting to sources for me....
If you like Kazaa...I would try morpheus.....just clean out using spybot s& d or adaware

Thanks for the suggestions! So far I've tried Ares and it's 100% better. Is there a clean version of Limewire and IMesh? Now to go find Piolet...

I know there Imesh lite, http://zeropaid.com/imeshlight/. Limewire, just use Shareaza because both use the Gnutella Network or check http://www.zeropaid.com/php/filesharing.php?id=61&action= for simular p2p programs.

Actually, multisource downloading would probably slow his connection down. He barely has enough bandwidth to DL, much less to manage connections between multiple peers at one time.
That having been said...

DainBramaged, that makes since, but Ares has been running so wondefully, I'm going to keep using it as a regular while I try a few others. Juat today I was downloading at and over 5KB/s, which is unusual for me.

FastTrack is light on overhead (which could slow you down) as far as i remember, so that's what i would say at that speed.
PS: Have you considered getting satellite (available across the US, not DSL or Cable speeds, but MUCH faster than your current)
