I am on the WS mailing list and i thought i would share some info with you all.
To all the fair children out there in Stripedom... Jack and Meg are doing quite well right now. They've both completed origami and pilates classes with "satisfactory" marks and we'll soon be letting them out of their cages to celebrate at some very small, intimate gigs. The dates are:
August 1st, Fuji Rock Festival (Japan)
August 27th, Rock en Seine (France)
August 28th, Reading Festival (England)
August 29th, Leeds Festival (England)
There may be some additions to these four, so when we get word, I'll be sure to sound the horn. In the meantime, don't forget you can order all kinds of glorious White Stripes trinkets, gee-gaws, whirlygigs and beer cozies at: www.whitestripes.com
In more excting news, Jack is really excited about his latest source of excitement, "Van Lear Rose", the new album from country music pioneer/exciter Loretta Lynn. Jack produced and played guitar on the album while Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler of the Greenhornes provided bass and drums respectively. Not to be outdone, Dave Feeny of Blanche plucked the pedal steel guitar. The album will be released on April 27th by Interscope Records and I am not hyperbolizing when I say it is breathtaking.
To celebrate this monumental album, Loretta's called on the above-described band of ruffians, named them the Do-Whaters, and gotten some small, intimate gigs. Monday May 3rd finds them on Late Night with David Letterman. The next morning, May 4th, they'll brush the cobwebs out of their eyes and perform on the Today Show. Heck, there might even be some touring eventually, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.
Ben here's been busy running his record label, touring with the Dirtbombs, and writing for Detroit's Metro Times. To see my glowing review of two recent books written about the White Stripes, check out:
