View Full Version : Best personal webserver?

I want to be able to run a webserver on my computer just so i can host s couple of files to share with friends when i need to.

I'm running WinXP and was hoping for some suggestions. :tilted

Well if you are just going to run it for your friends, you could might as well use IIS. It might already be in your computer (look under services).

Badblue is ok but the new version has ads and that bugs me. I also liked wwwfileshare but the freeware version is no longer available.

I did find HFS which stands for http file server and it's very good. Has all ability to ban ip's, create a list of users and passwords etc. Is easy to work with and you just open it, drag and drop files onto it and its ready to go. And it's freeware.

Also abyss webserver is very easy to work with and has a nice forum to seek help. But not as full featured out of the box, you need to know about php to create password access.

Badblue is also not as fast it seemed. But it has nice features
