Bluetooth and Headphones?

Hey--

Does anyone know if anywhere in the future if there is plans to develop bluetooth headphones? This would be nice to get rid of the wired ones :-P...

But.. I don't know too much about bluetooth so would this even be supported by bluetooth?

Bluetooth headphones already exist (SonyEricsson). Today Bluetooth really picked up in the cell phone industry. There is no line of sigh consideration with Bluetooth. It will work no matter where you are in a room or what's between you and the Bluetooth device. This is not the case with infrared. Another Bluetooth advantage is the price.

Bluetooth, however, is still a rather new technology, so do not expect flawless operation. In the case of head phones, the sound quality is pathetic by today’s standards. You must also provide some kind of energy to power those wireless headphones; and the batteries life span is too short. A Bluetooth device still requires a considerable amount of energy to run. You would need to carry a cell phone battery on those headphones to get decent sound quality and I really mean decent not great.

The drivers and software provided with computer Bluetooth devices are also very unstable, WIDCOMM is what I use.

Would you recommend getting those or a mouse first...my Vaio im getting has integrated Bluetooth so I'm gonna try to dable with it a little.

Get the mouse, Headphones arent as good as 5.1 speakers which are worth it, if you want to get headphones then get a good wired pair that will last a while.

My apologies, I am not from English origins. Until now, I didn't know the difference between a headset and a headphone. I was talking about headsets. I recommend saving your money for future and better Bluetooth hardware. The technology is only getting better.

Today I cannot recommend Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth mouse. If you want a wireless mouse there are many out there using RF technology (proven and cheap). Most wireless hardware comes with a sleek USB receiver. Logitech is the best (from my own experience). As for the headphones, I agree with Sephiroth, nothing equals wired headphones today. It's all about power, anything wireless has to have a source of energy (even a wireless mouse). The sound quality is directly related to energy and today we do not have batteries good enough to equal the power coming from a wall.

5.1 stereo is an over-rated selling point. I have 5.1, and do not use it much.

You can use a low power fm transmitter to broadcast your pc's audio around the house.

I just use a cd-mp3 player and rechargable batteries. Use a fanny pack to keep your hands free.

I guess I left out some important information since everyone has posted some other answer then what I was looking for..

I have 5.1 sound. I can never use it. I live in a college dorm.

When I want to listen to music, it's kind of hard for me to be on my bed and have a wired headphones that reach across the room.

See what I'm getting at?

Amphony is the Bose of headphones (top of the line 5.8 GHz wireless headphones). Headphones with 2.4 GHz are more available but with todays electronic gears running at 2.4 such as the microwave, you might get some interference. If you don't care, 2.4 is still a good value.
