@djfreeze729......What are you talking about??? edonkey, emule and overnet have ALWAYS been like that! It is nothing new! They have always been SLOW! I know, I have used edonkey since it first came out years ago. You just have to have patience with them, but if you do, you can get some teriffic content! Stuff that is rare and you can't get anyplace else! Now as far as shareaza, I use it for torrent links and it all depends on how many people are seeding a certian file. Some are lightning fast, others are slower, but I usually get what I want! Mabye you ought to consider trying to learn how to use mIRC? They have great speeds and they usually get stuff first!

Overnet is faster than edonkey and emule, but then again, it does not have servers to overwork! But to me, bit torrent is the fastest p2p program I have found unless you go to newsgroups or mIRC.

Ok this is what I set my upload to: 11 This is what I set my download to: 90 and I use 200 max connections. That is for the edonkey/emule programs. For overnet I have the same upload/download ratio, but 500 max connections! Like I said it may not be the fastest program I have ever run, but the content more than makes up for it! I also prefer overnet to edonkey/emule......why? because the overnet program is not based on servers as with edonkey and emule.
When too many people get on a certian edonkey or emule server, it can overload it and cause stress on the network. But overnet is serverless and scaleable....meaning it can handle a whole lot more people on it's network than the edonkey and emule network can , that was why they created overnet in the first place, so it could take some pressure off the overworked edonkey network!
And by the way.....you complain about having cable and leaving your PC on overnight?? I have cable too, but I still feel sorry for the 56kers downloading.....those guys take DAYS....even WEEKS to get a file! I remember when all I had was 56k, it sucked! So now I am very thankful that I have cable.
The fastest P2P that I can think of right now, is probably gonna be bit torrent.(there is always mIRC and Newsgroups, but they take some time to learn and get used to) You can download a program called shareaza here: http://www.shareaza.com/
It not only uses the gnutella network, but can download edonkey AND bit torrent files!
The best place to look for torrent downloads is here: http://search.suprnova.org/
Just type in the name of the file you want in the window, another window will come up if any results are found and you can click on the link (try to get a file that has a LOT of people seeding it - all seeding means is that so many people have parts of a torrent file - the more people seeding a file... the better. You can look at the seeds column to find out how many there are for the file you are searching for.) Good luck!

it's not slow... most 56K users from around the world are now using Overnet coz it runs the same speed like Kazaa. I tried to setup all my bandwidth without a limit so I can share more bandwidth over 56K coz i realized my download speed is still the same as the speed limit that i got... maybe you're downloading a file with less users.

I detect a certain theme here......are there any that you tried that you don't think suck?!
You are heading nowhere in your search for a good p2p client because you don't take any time at all to learn how they work or how to use them before you think they are shit and you have to try something else. Some people should just go to the store and buy the goods. You have asked a lot of questions and received a lot of very very good advice but you haven't really heard one word of it. Go to the store and buy the CDs and DVDs. Just pick them up and pay for them, don't ruin someone's day with 20 questions while the line gets bigger behind you.

Overnet is much faster than edonkey and emule, but all of them can be slowed to a crawl if they are not set up properly! This is a cause for a lot of complaints by people new to these programs. If they are set up decently in their upload, download and max server settings, then they can go a decent speeds!
The problem is, that most peoples connections are different and what affects some people, might not affect others as much! Some can afford to devote more bandwith to uploading and not have it affect thier downloading at all, while it may slow other connections to a crawl downloading and uploading a certian amount of bandwith at the same time! These problems were discussed in the edonkey forums years ago before there ever was an overnet! It all depends on the connection of the user!

Well, you sir are wrong! I don't know what connection you have....but my Ares and Overnet are way fast than Shareaza is...i'm on Cable connection and i get pretty good speeds with them all except Shareaza that doesn't want to go any faster for some reason.

I have to say slow speeds all around with a super fast cable modem. Shareazza without bittorrent support is useless. Overnet/edonkey/emule/cross platform can be fast but can be a mule

I've had the same problem. Now I use direct connect (dc++). I searched the hub list for metal hubs, connected to 5 of them, now I can find everything I need and get good speed by downloading from other people with high speed connections.
