I have been running eMule on a dedicated eMule machine with plenty of RAM and plenty of hard drive space. The connection is 1.5mb/768kb and I have no problems reaching 200kB/s downloading directly. I use a SMC router with the eMule ports open and forwarded to the proper machine.
The problem is I typically get a 10-25kB/s download speed on eMule with a highId. I have about 600 files in my download queue and I run eMule 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so I should be pretty high up on queue lists. In addition, I share all my files so I am sure I have built up quite a few credits. The 10-25kB/s download speed is very slow.
Yesterday I happened to connect with a lowId, and within a few hours, my download speed was 75kB/s. My download speed even got as high as 100kB/s for a while. However, next time I connected, at highId, my download speeds were back to normal at 10-25kB/s again.
I allow 400 sources and 600 simultaneous connections. I leave eMule on 24 hours a day. So does anyone know why I get such a bad download speed? Also, it is especially puzzling why I did so well the one time I connected with a lowId.
At first I thought my connection may be clogged even though I am downloading at 10-25 kB/s. So I tried to download using DC++ at the same time and was able to get 100kB/s on DC++ while running eMule at the same time. Another problem I have had with eMule is that while eMule may work fine, the other systems behind my NAT router were no longer able to access the internet. This usually happened after running eMule for half a day or so.
Thank you in advance for your replies.
