well i have just uncovered a serious bug...its a clash between 2 softwares
Alohol 120%
and RecordNow Max Dx both versions
ie. Veritas 4.6 DX
and Sonic 4.61
if both softwares are installed on a computer then recordnow dx refuses to burn a cd-rw...though rest operation remain unaffected....
This though occurs 30 days from install of alcohol, even when you convert trial alcohol to registerd versions LEGALLY **cough**
on trying to burn a cd-rw following error pops up
"the cd-rw disc instered is incompatible with the drive"
you will still be able to burn cdr, dvd+rw...tested by me
...to remove the bug un-install alcohol 120% and also remove the registeries, this will be asked during the unistall process
and re-boot
This bug is not os dependednt as i have 2 comps, 1 on xp pro and other server 2003, and both showed the bug...strangely i was using an obsolete recordnow max version 3.5 on server 2003 and the latest version of alcohol on both the comps...which made me narrow it down to alcohol being faulty
Plz dont post ur smart ass comments like - use nero..and other softwares...ppl use what they like.
Peace

I found both home pages and they don't have a faq section on either.
I google it and found no information on:
Alcohol 120% "cd-rw disc" inserted is incompatible
RecordNow "cd-rw disc" inserted is incompatible
I don't know what to say because I assumed you have a great machine with more then enough memory, hard drive space, a newer CD/DVD writer, the only thing I could think is try another rewritable disc if you have try that. I like to say but you for what ever reason want to avoid Nero because I assume you may already tried and found it suck, that cool. How about
HT Burn DVD 3.1, Super DVD Creator 6.5, DVDWriterPro 1.0, Magic CD/DVD Burner 1.1.8, note I never tried any of these so I have no ideals how they work or if they work. Do a google on DVD writing software and try them out if you have time.

even i was surprised as the first thing i did was google the error...and found no results..this happened with an older rw,,so i thought what the hell must have got corrupted but when a brand new rw gave the exact error i got suspicious...and the fact that the error was removed and i could use both oldand new rw after uninstalling alochol i think i nailed it
heres a screennshot...i googled it but found no results....hence i put it up to help others facing the same bug
oh i have 2 comps both are in good condition
1 p4 1.7 256rd 40gb hdd....and sony dru510a dvd-rw
2 p4 1.8 256ddr 80gb ...hp 8x 4x 32x 9100 series ...old but works perfectly

I guess we have ourselves a new Random Nut. Good Work. You should contact the company and then publish it on bugtraq.

Well why would you want both burning programs anyway?
There have been numerous conflicts in the past when you have 2+ burning programs on the system. Just pick the one you like and use it, thats my feelings on it

that was my view as well...and i have been using recordnow for long it came with both my burners....but it does not support bin/cue files....thats prolly the only draw back in the software...thats why i chose to install alcohol...and well i hate nero
