I noticed that sometimes when I use burst! client to download things, it'll keep downloading until it reaches 99.9%. Then it looks like it still downloading but it'll never reach completion. It just stays at 99.9% and keeps uploading and downloading. It's weird because it says download and the amount keeps going up but it'll never get to 100%.
It happens once in a while. I know i am not the only one that has this problem.

This has happened to me as well. My problem was the last bit of the file kept failing the hash check so it kept trying to redownload. If you let it keep going it will probaly finsh.

Ive noticed some people create (seed) movie torrents and then remove some extra file they had added along with the movie just so you can never reach 100%. This tricks people into leaving torrents open for long periods of time. Close out your client and then check the torrent file to see if its really complete.

yeah, close the torrent or if you know which IP it can from , put it on your peerguardian block list, or some bit torrent clients, you can select to ignore ones that has the fake hashes or fail.. so it would try to get another part from someone else.

It can also be because of the 'thumbnail' file XP creates in a folder...if it was included with the torrent...it will never finish...but you will have all the file.

I had the same problem when I first started unsing torrent files till I disabled the thumbnail file for the folders. Once I changed the settings I have never hadd an incomplete 99% file since. If you have Xp, open the folder were you are downloading and go to the top and left click on view. Go down and see if thumbnail is checked. If it is, uncheck it and check the tile setting. That just might be what is causing the 99% fault.

I think it's actually a trick to stop leechers and to help proliferate the torrent...

Mels_Smileys45 hit the nail on the head... it is a trick being used because the number of leechers on BT has got out of control.
When the last segment keeps failing and you keep going from 99.9% to 99.7% (or whatever!) over and over again... your file has probably already completed downloading. I've stopped downloads at this point many times and the files I've downloaded have always run fine, even ZIPs/RARs/ISOs/etc.
I'd imagine an easy way to do this would be to change the very last byte (or few bytes) of the file BEFORE seeding, then change the byte/bytes back to what it/they should be.
Downloaders will still download the right data but their client will be stuck in a loop thinking it's failed the last chunk when in reality, it's downloaded the correct data.

Makes sence.. Cause its always that last little chunk, the file you have still their but its going to download it again and rewrite on the last bit.. The space has been allocated.. I leave it on til after downloads.. but when it never reaches 100.. Ill shut it offf, turn back on.. and close out when its done.. Pisses me off so much, i rather leave it uploading after its 100 percent.. because i like to make a copy of it and listen to it.
