ShareReactor Down Indefinitely
March 12, 2004
Thomas Mennecke
ShareReactor has become one of the most popular link sites for the eDonkey2000/Overnet community. This site made the "search" feature irrelevant by using hash codes to directly link an individual with a file. Hash links have proven to be invaluable in the fight against corrupt or false files.
However, after approximately three years as the top link site for eDonkey2000/Overnet, its future is drawn into great question. The site has been down for several days, with little in the way of an explanation. The little information that has surfaced has been confined to the ShareReactor chatroom and a few forum posts. The ShareReactor IRC chat room topic states the following:
"MAINPAGE & FORUM WILL MOST LIKELY NOT BE BACK UP, PLEASE DO NOT ASK WHY, WE WILL TELL YOU WHEN WE KNOW MORE!"
The site administrator, Simon Moon, has been unreachable since the site closure. Because of the fluid nature of the current situation, the ShareReactor administration has asked us to remove their previous statements, stating "ShareReactor will be down until further notice."

Can anyone please direct me to this other thread? I wasn't able to find it.
BTW, how does the search function work? I used "share", "reactor" and "sharereactor" as search strings and found nothing of interest, not even this thread.

The best way to use the search function on ZeroPaid is to never use the search function. It is the worst search function ever implemented and it couldn't find its way through an open door.

Does anyone know a good "replacement" site for sharereactor.com? I know, it is/was unbeatable but now we definetly need some (intermediate?) solution in order to be informed about the latest releases.

FileHeaven.org (http://www.fileheaven.org/forum/). . . many verified links, esp. lots of rare files (beware of grouchy, n00b-hating Euros)
MusicDonkey.org (http://www.varkoume.com/donkey/). . . lots of verifieds for music only
ShareConnector.com (http://www.shareconnector.com/index.php). . . lots of various verifieds (check the forum out, as well)
FYI, a couple of these sites require you to register and/or become approved for access to the links. And, as mentioned, if you know what file you are searching for, Jigle.com (http://www.jigle.com) is still up and running.

Supernova does not have hash links for emule!??
from what I gather there is some BIG trouble happening to the Sharereactor people. Don't know what this means but when they (owners) are asking sites to remove links to their site, I would suspect there is some type of legal action happening.

i got this from some internet site
"Due to the suspicion of breach of copyright and trademark laws the cantonal judicial Inquiry department of Thurgau has taken down an internet site that served as a link platform for filesharing downloads. A court procedure against the 25 year old owner is underway. The internet site located in Frauenfeld was online for about 30 months and last had over 220.000 hits per day, before it was taken offline by the Thurgau officials. The site, that was working as an anchorpoint for links to downloads of copyrighted and trademarked products, was top rated in search engines. After a complaint from several large corporations, represented by the Swiss association against piracy, the cantonal judicial inquiry department of Thurgau initiated an investigation, seized the servers in Frauenfeld and had the site taken offline. The responsible owner, a 25 year old Swiss proved to be very cooperative in explaining matters at hand. The inquiries continue and will take some time."

220,000 hits per day really isn't that much. PeerWeb gets at least 100,000 hits per day and our database is nothing like the size of ShareReactor.
