I read that Shareaza connects to Bit torrents servers too.. What's the advantage of using Shareaza for bit torrent as opposed to using torrent clients? Thanks all.

Just try out a bunch of clients to see which works best for you. I don't think Shareaza connects to as many sources as some BT programs do. They've improved in that area and you can also get sources from the other Shareaza networks as well but still it isn't quite as good as other clients IMHO.

In my opinion: Simply put, Shareaza was not made for BitTorrent. BitTorrent clients were made for the BitTorrent community, and specialize in only that network, as opposed to Shareaza that must focus on Gnutella, G2, ed2k, and BitTorrent. BitTorrent is not their priority, so they don't have as many features, as say, Azureus (sp?)

I second Hawkburn.

Shareaza is a lot of useless weight if you only plan to use it for BT.
There are many advantages to using specialist programs.
The one advantage of Shareaza is if you set up some of the other networks, you can continue your BT download from other sources if the BT tracker fails. The latest version of Azureus also has this feature now. You will probably find you don't use it much, if at all.

Yeah if your going to do a BitTorrent client if your not using Azureus then your just not doing it right. That client will allow you to download the fastest and with the least amout of defragmenting of your drive, etc...etc...Shareaza just screws up your .torrent file associations. As far as I am concerned at least.

So I hear you in the fact that Shareaza is not "made" for bittorrent. But I dont really see the problem with that. Unless someone can give my some concrete evidence that it slows down DLs, I will stick with Shareaza for BitTorrent.

it take you forever getting the bit torrent files.. mainly is that your going to be on a longer wait and queue.. in bit torrent, people will download it and seed the file quickly, and only share that file at a given time. ON shareaza, you may have to wait til JOE blow gets his video from the one who has part of the bit torrent file that you need.

I think Shareaza is slow as a Bittorrent Client. Use a better Torrent Client.

SHareaza for me is a fast bt client, but i don't use it because its so cluttered. However if you lowerr the ul speed to 1kb/s your download will go fast.

alright...I just decided out of shits and giggles to try another client other than shareza (azureus), and I have to say it freakin' rocks...blows shareza out of the water.

My experiences with using Shareaza with torrent and compared to normal Bittornado/bittorrent is that shareaza speeds are nothing compared to bittornado speeds.

Why go to foot-locker when you can go to Payless?

That's the same question you are asking.

Because one that solely focuses on bittorrent is better, say Azureus or ABC.

However if you lowerr the ul speed to 1kb/s your download will go fast.
And that's great for all the other people trying to get the file right? Want to improve your bittorrent speeds? Try seeding more. If everyone did, it would be a hell of alot faster.
