Ok, I've had a dvd burner (LiteOn DVD +/- Model LDW-411S) for a couple months now. I've been using DVD X Copy xpress software to burn, and a Sony dvd player model DVP-NS425P to play them. I've had quite a few successful burns in that time using TDK DVD-Rs and imation DVD+Rs. Now I have a problem. I tried a different brands(Liquid Video DVD-Rs), and my dvd player couldn't read them (they did seem to burn correctly). I thought my dvd player just couldn't read that brand so I tried TDK DVD+Rs, they worked, but the video froze when playing a lot, and there were a great deal of burn errors. Finally, I went back to the same brand of TDK DVD-Rs, but now they don't work at all. I also tried some Memorex DVD-Rs as well. I've tried to burn several different DVDs with each of these brands, but they just won't work. I've also tried re-installing the DVD X Copy software several times.

The Liquid Video, TDK, and Memorex DVD-Rs always get the same message from my dvd player, "The Disk is Dirty". Also, my previously burned DVDs are all still working fine.

It's quite clear my problem is not with the media, but either with my software or burner.

I need some help, does anyone have any ideas? I'm also not very computer literate, so simple answers would be much appreciated.

Did you check the speeds of the discs?
I made the mistake of buying 1x when my player burns at 4x.

Never mind, I updated the firmwire. Now everything seems to be working again.

Why? Xcopy is simple and only takes a few clicks to backup a disc. Dvd decrypter is great when you want more options, but for simplicity and ease-of-use you can't beat Xcopy
