Hi all. I've been searching for a clean version of Blubster 2.50 on the net for weeks now without success - every link I go to is either broken or invalid. Even Todd Terry's link comes up with a 403 error. :( Anyway, I'm running out of patience - I'm wondering if I can just go ahead and install the normal Blubster 2.50 and then just clean out all the spyware with it using AdAware and SpyBot. Does this work? Or does it install spyware that these cleaning programs can't remove?
Thanks for any feedback. :)

I installed Blubster 2.50 as soon as it came out. It works fine after all the spyware was purged.

A few places you can still get clean blubster. It is probally the best mp2p client out right now. Since the current Piolet code is older.

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. I installed the new Blubster 9 months ago, then ran SpySweeper, Adaware, and Spybot simultaneously. In 10 minutes the spyware was gone for good. Others people seem to be so frightened of spyware that they waited months for someone to come up with a clean version and more months for someone to fix whatever was wrong. Go wash your brown underwear and stop being so intimidated by spyware.

I was wondering if the Clean version of Blubster even worked cuz I'd get the logo and then nothing. Other times I would install it and I'd see it work and then after awhile it no longer will function. So maybe the clean version us currupted in some way.

I do believe the Clean Blubster 2.50 that Dr. Damn created is missing a few (perhaps some .dll files...?) in it's installer. So that's why people sometimes get an error when starting the application. To correct the issue, instead of installing regular Blubster then cleaning it up again with your spyware remover of your choice, just install Piolet (http://www.piolet.com/) . I do believe installing Piolet (http://www.piolet.com/) will work just as well as installing regular Blubster. With Piolet, at least it's spyware/adware free. And at least it installs the missing file(s) that's required for Blubster to run. Just run the small (504KB) installer & away you go. Then you can try & see if clean Blubster works. It'll be up to you if you want both on your system or not. It wouldn't hurt to have both.

For your information, I am not intimidated by spyware at all! But I just wonder why the HELL even bother making a "lite" version of software that doesn't even work?? Hell, If I have to go "clean up" my own software, then that lite version is absolutely useless! It really is stupid to make a version of software that is supposed to be "clean", but yet doesn't work! Now take K++ for example........THAT is clean software done the RIGHT way! No ads or spyware in it, just the program itself.....but THAT program works!! Yes I KNOW about sharman trying to disable it, but I have a nice little patch that fixes it! So again, I am not intimidated at all, but this clean software is great, it saves time and effort .....that is.... when it works!

I know of a p2p that if you clean it of it spyware it trys to redownload the spyware parts and install them again. The software install file doesn't have the spyware files in it so it program to install from the web. Not a good source for finding files and I got ride of it when a antivrus detected that it does this, I think the antivirus program was Norton Antivirus 2004. I would stay away from Gnapster, I try it on an old computer so it wasn't going to screw up my Windows on my main computer.
