File Description:
Spybot Search and Destroy searches your hard drive for so-called spy- or adbots; that is, little modules that are responsible for the ads many programs display. Many of these modules also transmit information, including your surfing behavior on the Internet. If it finds such modules, it can remove them. In most cases the host still runs fine after removing the spyware/adware.

Another feature is the removal of usage tracks, which makes it more complicated for unknown spybots to transmit useful data. The list of last visited websites, opened files, started programs, cookies, all that and more can be cleaned. Supported are the three major browsers Internet Explorer, Netscape Communicator, and Opera.

Changes in Current Version:
Integration of BrowserManager for spyware detection
Fixed Settings showing on automated program start
Multiple instances of a process will now be correctly terminated
Scheduler now passes correct CLPs
Confirmation after successful bug report send added
Donation button removed if using IUServer
New hosts file (in use by updated hosts file tool)

Note i have been testing this for a few days, on three different computers, and have had no problems. The tied in restore feature for Windows Me, and newer systems is a great feature if you did have a problem.

All I can tell you is that if I can use the program with no problems it must be truly stupid proof. Also it did find more crap that the other version didnt find.

I agree, and this new one is a real winner.

I like it already. The registry back-up feature is a great idea. It also creates a restore point when eliminating problems. Thanks, Hunter!!

making restores in every search is great but fills up your hard drive with those. Make sure you delete them once in a while if everything is ok

I haven't found any recent side-by-side comparisons, but it seems to me that Ad-aware would be better becuase it seems to update defs more often. But the price is right, I love both these programs. I love Spybot's tools to see what starts up and what is running.

I can give one, as installed the software that came with my Kodak camera, and then ran Ad-aware, and followed up with spybot. Spybot found a lot of crap left behind, and cleaned it up nicely. That said i feel that both of these programs are great, and make a nice tagteam.

great programme, when i 1st installed it i could only get the turkish version for some reason, i managed to fix this but when i updated the prog yesterday it said there were important turkish updates to dl which i did, and lo and behold after running it, the spybot found a lot more dodgy files.

my only prob now is the prog is displayed in turkish! any ideas?
