Quote from Doom9:

"Have you ever given a password protected login to a friend, colleague or family member? Then drag your ass down to the next police station and have yourself arrested because you're a dirty pirate. According to a New York judge, a login/password scheme is a technical measure to prevent access to a copyrighted work. And telling somebody your password is considered an act of circumvention and thus in violation of the DMCA. Where will this nonsense end?"

See this is why this is a stupid law, it can be applied to damn-near any situation. I don't know what congress was thinking when they voted for this broad reaching law. We need to get these old phucks out and put some educated people up in there. They want technology to advance this country and make things cheaper but they create a law that inhibits it.

I was just reading an article where Lexmark filed a DMCA claim against a printer cartridge refill company and it had me shaking my head. In the end the US Copyright Office did the right thing and dismissed the case.

i guess keygens are legal since it just makes random codes that work instead of giving one code away =)

Hooray for keygens! I use them all the time. Er.. for programs that I lost my keys for. Yep.

Actually most free software is better than paid anyways. I admit using a keygen on Opera but I felt bad and linked to them on my site.
