I was wondering what the majority of the zeropaid people think about bearshare, good or bad? Personally i'm not a big Bearshare fan, but lets hear some opinions :black

Haven't tried it lately, but I just don't trust bearshare enough to try it again.

BearShare sucks...no new features in it for years now. It cuts other Gnutella network user from their network, but BearShare will search and download from other Gnutella users. If you want a Gnutella p2pclient use Shareaza, XoloX, anything before using BearShare.

There are new features added all the time.. It merely allows people to choose authnication for things like hosts downloads and uploads until a network wide plan is agreed upon..

The reason why people dont like bearshare is simply because they dont use it but they still badmouth it.. I

f your going to complain about a program then you have at least should have used it recently and maybe posting more constructive critism instead of saying it suck which too many people do this for too many programs here IMO..

evilmegaman i allready posted my advice to people who didnt want as many ads. which is to get the betas which doesnt have any of the bundled programs.. only the ads on the search pane are there which are no different than any other web ad..

Although I personally don't like Bearshare, I don't like those Bearshare-sucks-because-it-sucks posts. If you want to give an opinion, give it with fundaments or just say nothing.

My reasons for not liking bearshare:

(personal)Can't download anything with it so far.
(public)The option for no clients other than bearshare can upload.
(personal)offers spyware, I don't mind ads too much but it depends on the type.

Ok Now I backed up my opinion so I have a non "bearshare-sux-because-it-sux" post.:mellow :wings :fire

There is better and FREE software!

Besides this there are several other reasons not to use bearshare... read some of my statements here or on www.gnutellaforums.com

at the end of this i will link you to others opinions also of bearshare. remember, my opinion of bearshare is my opinion, now in the past i judged it based on stuff, but now my opinion of bearshare has changed. i actually give it a good review. well read what i wrote. now i understand also there is a new version out, and i havent had time to try that version out. so this is review is based on bearshare 4.01.
none the less read what i wrote.

nah, i have to disagree on certain issues, first of all, shareaza is pretty good, i used it, and i was able to download off of bearshare users, the *4.0* version. then, i was downloading other stuff too.while using shareaza i notice, it will not seek other sources from gnutella very quickly, because it already has the sources available. but then again, this is just what i wanted, wasnt a rare file. now, coming to the conclusion, that a gnutella client, is susposed to do that, i then downloaded, bearshare, 4.1 the latest version. Yep the adware one, and decided to test it. boy, was i surprised, it was pretty good. i was able to download from other clients as well. gnucleus, morpheus*yuk*. and surpriselingly enuff, i tested the waters, and its pretty good. you see, i would rather use a gnutella client, that works. In me saying this, every p2p client is unique, as in this case, the bearshare latest version, is not a problem, it gets what i need. now, stick with a gnutella that get whats you want, and i have tested just about every client out there more or less, not all of them, and can say, well bearshare is pretty good. now in the past, i didnt like the idea, of certain instances, where the program, didnt meet my needs. well, i got rid of the bundled crap, *btw* you can opt out of it. and i am pretty much sure, that i dont have any sort of spyware on it, since , i opt out of it. the point is, i was able to use this client. you see the beauty of it, is that gnutella has come along way. A very long way in fact. so, to be honest to each there own, and yes i might be talking and talking, but, i am talking what i know, and i tested this bearshare program, and it lives up to being a good client. *now* saying this, in the past, certain instances, paved the way for me to get upset, with the bearshare client. now, i dont have a problem with it. to each there own, like i said before, p2p programs, are so numerous, so as saying this, stick with what ya know, and what i know is, that on occasion i will use this one.
along, with shareaza, gnucleus, *winmx* baby, filetopia, and of course *newsgroups* ,as well as xolox.

rtw*,, man, this is pretty long. woe*

I just dont like the fact that when Im on, it keeps constantly sending stuff from my computer.(the zone alarm ul graph shooting up like crazy) i didnt even hit the search button yet! And why is a weather software bundled with this?

in addition, cant find any popular apps.

Thats because its on gnutella which is a decentralized network so everyone on it is part of the network so the activity your seeing is normal network traffic like search hits being sent to other people, uploading, and etc..

i think bearshare is nice. except for the fact that it has to run along side idiots like morpheus. i have said it before, but when i use shareaza, aqualime, or any gnutella client, all i can connect to is morpheus or gnucleus... they only have 3 people per ultrapeer. this is ridiculous. that adds up to a few gb's of content, but nothin i want. so i disconnect and keep going till i get to limewire clients or somethin.

GET RID OF GNUCLEUS AND MORPHEUS.

HA! I laugh at all of you nay-sayers, I can download a full .AVI movie, even new releases, very quickly (an hour to an hour and a half), music files are almost instantanious (5 megs in 1-4 minutes). I have tried all those other ones (emule, limewire, morpheus), all of which give TERRIBLE search results and never seem to download anything AT ALL. I am a firm believer in bearshare, it hasnt failed me yet. I have downloaded about 10 PC video games (new ones, including brothers in arms, call of duty 2, and battlefield 2), I have downloaded new and not even released DVD movies, in .AVI format, probably 50 movies, all in a span of 8 months, of off-and-on usage. Whenever I need something, within reason, I get it quickly, and for free. Plus, the Bitzi Ticket feature lets me know if it is a false file becasue you can personally scan it into their system, asign it a Bitzi Ticket, and tell everyone if the file is corrupt, has missing pieces, is terrible quality (movies), or if the file is totally different from what was listed. I also pay for a T3 internet connection, so that helps, but even with a T3 connection, I have NOT been able to download anything from Limewire or Emule.

Bearshare is ok. Although the majority of files found/listed are viruses. Good thing it's easy to tell what's a real file and what's not.
